LOL, and reportedly he did make the remark that Laura was a hard act to follow! I believe it!
Guess his jokes about Condi were a hit, too!

"However, we've been warned that some cranks didn't like some of Laura's jokes last night and might try to troll this thread."
You wouldn't be talking about me would you?!

That's the first rule of comedy, never follow a speaker that you cannot possibly top!

I think far too many people are perpetually stuck in adolescence. Laura's jokes were sweet, good-natured and, yes, a bit adult. But it was an adult audience, and well past most childrens' bedtimes. In addition, both George and Laura are nearly 59 years old, have two grown daughters, and have seen far too much of the worst the world has to offer during their years in the WH. Seems to me anyone who can't cut the First Lady a little slack deserves nothing but scorn.

I have no idea, DrDeb. I didn't follow any other threads on the dinner, and only have mentioned the warnings.

A roast is a roast is a roast. It's not for five year olds and it's all in good fun!

I am surprised as yet have not seen a troll but I am certain we will all deal with it appropriately. Yes I thought the Cheney's were enjoying themselves last night whenever the camera panned to them they seemed to be laughing and Lynne's eyes seemed to really sparkle

When's your next outing with the girls? I wish I had a gang like that to go out with. It sounds like you really have a great time with them.

I was not talking about you when I issued the warning, because I think your comments are always reasoned ones. There are some posters on threads I've been on today who have gotten downright nasty. THEY were who I was talking about. There is definitely room for disagreement on whether the first lady's comments were or weren't proper, IMO.
