RALEIGH, N.C. -- Three teens charged with murdering a retired Raleigh educator made their first court appearance on Friday.

On Thursday, Raleigh police arrested the three suspects, Ezavia Allen, 18; Marvin Johnson, 17; and Cameron Morris, 17, for shooting and killing Shirley Newkirk, 63, outside her home in a random robbery early Thursday morning.

Court records show that all three teens have criminal rap sheets of similar charges.

According to public records, Morris has the longest rap sheet. He was charged with felony breaking and entering and having a gun in 2004, and has similar charges this year.

Allen, Marvin and Johnson, each, have been charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Police also say the three teens made a similar robbery attempt about a mile from Newkirk's home on East Lane Street where they are also charged with attempted murder for shooting at a man inside his car. No one was hurt.

...

Police said Newkirk was in her car getting ready to go meet friends for a regular early-morning walk when she was shot. When officers arrived to the scene of the crime, they found Newkirk had crawled back to the house where she died.

Newkirk leaves behind a husband and two daughters.

The suspects are in jail without bond.

I don't know which sickens me more - a society that produces animals like these, or a "justice" system that allows them to go free on the streets...

The judges who let these hooligans back onto the streets should also be arrested and jailed as accomplices.

Calling them animals is too good. Usually an animal kills for food or fights to defend itself. This crop of scumbag
filth should be punished before the entire country if they are found guilty. It is time we stopped feeding and housing this inferior garbage. Any person preying on the vulnerable for money or sex should be exterminated. To hell with the claims of childhood neglect and silly excuses.
Give them a quick finish. This outrageous sick behavior has to stop.

A simple fix for getting these people off the streets would be to hold the judges and parole board members accountable for the actions of those they sentence to less than the maximum, or let out on an early release.

I would love to see this concept happen! I think any sex offender and murderer who is released early, should be released to the judges custody... to live with the judge for a minimum of 6 months!

If the judge is willing to trust the convict, then let him deal with the consequences!

I agree. Making guns illegal will solve nothing. They should just make killing people illegal. Oh, wait a minute, never mind - they already did that...

Of course the US Supreme Court has ruled that the State cannot execute two of these pieces of scum. Let Justice Kennedy explain that to this poor woman's husband and children.

Our state is spending too much on pork and not enough on prosecutors, jails, etc.
