The largest single mass re-enlistment to date in Iraq and in the history of the 3rd Infantry Division occurred at the Camp Taji airfield 3 April when 177 Soldiers from the 3ID Aviation Brigade re-enlisted during a ceremony. General Dan K. McNeill, Commander, Forces Command, FORSCOM, conducted the ceremony, accompanied by Major General William G. Webster, commanding general, 3rd Infantry Division.
The mass re-enlistment was the largest ever for the division, and the largest of any Army unit while serving in the Iraqi theater. The previous record was held by the 101st Airborne Division which re-enlisted 158 Soldiers 4 July 2003. The cut line and photos are by Spc Derek Del Rosario, Task Force Baghdad.

Called Tax-free reenlistment bonuses!!
But I thought they were all mad at Rumsfeld for not putting armor on every Humvee.
Seriously-if you were going to anyway, just wait until you get in theater and get all of your money.
Yup ;) But only up to some specific $$ amount added to your salary for the year, if I recall correctly.
it sure is good to read about my old camp and not be there anymore :p
I Wouldn't Give A Bean
To Be A Fancy Pants Marine
I'd rather Be A Dogface Soldier Like I Am.
I Wouldn't Trade My Old O.D.'s
For All The Navy's Dungarees
For I'm The Walking Pride Of Uncle Sam;
On All The Posters That I Read It Says
The Army Builds Men
So They're Tearing Me Down To Build Me Over Again
I'm Just A Dogface Soldier
With A Rifle On My Shoulder
And I Eat Raw Meat* For Breakfast Everyday.
So Feed Me Ammunition,
Keep Me In The Third Division,
Your Dogfaced Soldier Boy's Okay.
*The original WWII version was "a Kraut"
Now I'll be humming this ditty all day.;-)
Mark, that brings tears to my eyes. I remember my son and Bravo Company (3ID, 2/69) singing that cadence as they marched off to the bus debarkation point to go to the airport for their flight to Iraq.
God Bless them all! They are the BEST of the BEST. America is lucky to have them.
You brought tears and a hard swallow this morning.
,br>Salute !
It used to be, 50% paid up front and the remainder paid in equal installments on the anniversary of their re-inlistment. But after speaking to my future son-in-law, a National Guard soldier, this might have changed to make more available up front.
Impressive!
Not-in-the-MSM bump.
Actually, the only place the HUMVEE BS played was the MSM. BUT, they do know about Ilario Pantano and his case is killing recruitment as we speak.
