Wow. All I can say is, you have a very dirty mind.
You need to clean up your act there, Spiff, and get your mind out of the gutter.
It was all a joke.......and if you knew anything about this First Lady, you would realize that.

Agree with you completely. What made this so funny was that it was so absurd. Anyone who has paid attention to this First Couple knows how much in love they are ... a pure, faithful, and devoted love ... and also knows that this First Couple has been castigated and critized by the media and the 'socialites' because they are homebodies who don't like the party circuit. The Washington elite have had their noses really out of joint that the Bushes prefer quiet evenings at home with long-time friends than glitzy affairs put on by the 'in' people.
As you said, Laura was poking fun at the media and their brutal criticism of the Bush clan. As Rush says, she was using absurdity to illustrate the absurd. If anyone really thinks that Laura is even close to being a desperate housewife, they should see some of the pictures we have seen on the DITL threads. The people in the audience only wish that they had marriages as secure and devoted as the First Couple. And yet they have ridiculed the Bushes for their old-fashioned relationship and life-style. Laura was poking fun at her audience and had them rolling in the aisles because they thought she was making fun of her husband and his family. And they think he's dumb.
NEWS FLASH! This is NOT a desperate housewife!
