What a Bureaucrat's dream! Next the KGB will need to jump in with their thoughts.

I wish they would just forget this ugly building and start the plans all over again.

What a Bureaucrat's dream!

Amazing, isn't it? We're much safer with the bureaucrats in charge....

I agree. Personally, his design was near the bottom of my list, mostly because I thought it looked uneasy and tentative. It should be something confident and majestic.

That's the first picture I've seen of the plan, thanks. That being said, it looks like something designed by committee, and it's ugly, real ugly.

It looks like 40% of it is just glass. Why didn't they just build a hollow 100% glass tower with no offices in it? The if would be a LOT safer. It looks like the thing was designed by 3 different people. That skinny butt little thing on the top looks pathetic. It say, "This building isn't very tall but MY job is to make it LOOK tall!"

Larry Silverstein, has proposed seeking public financing - possibly hundreds of millions of dollars

What a surprise. Excuse us while the state of NY collectively bends over and grabs its ankles.

The Freedom Tower idea is flat stupid - everybody knows the twin towers need to go back up just the way they were - with strutural improvememts of course but size and shape all the same.

To make it look tall. The real building is a lot lower than many NYC buildings. It would be harder to hit the lower part with a plane, as if the ROP guys are planning to try that again.

Along with street side protective high-tech walls of titanium/ceramic/reinforced-concrete of sufficient hight and width.

For incoming air-attacks fully computer/radar controlled "phalanx" fast-reaction, rapid-fire 20-millimeter gun systems at say 40 and 80 stories and roof, covering 360 degrees. Anything that doesn't "squawk 'friend'" within a certain perimeter (like police helicopters would) is destroyed.

"Hey...I'm not kidding."

Yup agree 100%. I spent a good time of my younger life seeing those towers every morning while walking to work, and would love to see them built back the way they were, with improvements and all.

I think putting them right back up would be a much more fitting memorial than empty spaces where they stood.. (then again.. thats just my opinion)
