First update:
Still time for local FReepers to make this classic event! 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. EDT at the southeast corner of Conn. Ave. and T Street, across from the Hilton where the White House Correspondents Association dinner will be held. Kristinn and company have my number and will be calling in with a few "Live Action" comments.

CSPAN definitely plans to show up for tonight’s FReep. They've already recorded a phone interview with kristinn.

This weekend’s “D.C. Chapter v. Code Pink and Liberal Media, Three Game Series” has been threatened by rain delays. Last night was the Opening Game at Walter Reed Army Hospital. Both Gail Murphy and Media Benjamin came over to talk to our FReepers for about a half hour each.

But no rain delay tonight: The umpire just called “Play Ball” for tonight’s game. By now some FReepers should be on site with other FReepers still en route.

I’m standing by for a phone-in play-by-play.

Free Republic's Faux News Awards First Place Winner (by a landslide):
CBS News for the Sixty Minutes II broadcast on Sept. 8, 2004 that used forged documents to attack President Bush's Texas Air National Guard service

First Place Prize, created by Tiggles (tgslTakoma): A clay diorama of a knuckle-dragging, PJ-clad FReeper at the computer, with a tiny copy of the famous "Post 47" hanging on the wall."

Larry Klayman sends his regards! By the way, will tonight's awards ceremony participants have free beverages available?

As kristinn wrote on an earlier thread:

Last year, actress Drew Barrymore filmed us for a documentary she was working on.

Two years ago, the Garofalo Awards we presented outside the dinner were featured on Fox & Friends.

This year, we will be presenting the Faux News Awards to those in the media who ginned up news and scandals with very little or no factual basis. The nomination thread for the awards will be posted shortly.

After the freep, we will continue our tradition of going to the Hilton's bar and watching the dinner on C-SPAN while having dinner and drinks. …

We have a lot of fun at this one. This has become D.C.'s version of the Oscars: a star-studded night filled with wretched excess and pomposity.

When Matt Drudge was on Washington Journal yesterday he was showing Brian Lamb the laptop gadget he uses to update his site from anywhere anytime. He may have even updated it during the show. He is a guest of Wes Pruden and the Washington Times table and I have a hunch that he will be doing something live during the dinner.

You have me confused with StayAtHomeMother. Although as a stay at home mom, I am more often than not running errands, a trip to DC from Plymouth, Michigan was not on my to do list today!

I yearn for the days when this kind of stuff can be easily webcast all over the 'net...those of us not in the Beltway can then enjoy seeing likeminded souls exercise their First Amendment rights!

FREEPER ON-SCENE REPORT:

The President has arrived via the back entrance as usual.

FReeper batting lineup for tonight’s game:
Lead off pitcher is kristinn, who threw the first pitch in a pre-recorded phone interview with C-SPAN. On deck:
GunsareOK
zelig
Jimmy Valentine's brother
tgslTakoma
Exit 148
nutmeg
always free
BufordP
Doctor Roaul
BillF
Christopher Lincoln
StayTrue

CNN took a lot of FReep footage. Drudge came by earlier and stopped to talk. A bunch of Fox people have also stopped by including (please forgive the spellings!) Brett Baier, James Rosen, Steve Ducy, Uma Pamaraju, Brian Kilmeade, Megan Keldall … (at this point kristinn had to break away … someone was calling him… more later…)

Kristinn just called back. The interruption was the White House Correspondents’ Association who wanted to interview HIM. Another motorcade was pulling in. (the VP?)

Kristinn says they’ve only seen a few “unfriendlies.” The FReepers chanted “Hanoi Jane” as her limo turned the corner. Among the sightings, most of whom waved or said a quick hello, were (again, forgive the spellings) Joe Lockhart, Ron Emanuel, Michael Barone, Blanquita Cullum, and Rita Crosby. The FReepers talked with FL Congressman Mark Foley.

“Attire” comment for my fellow Dr Raoul fans: He is wearing a Rush Limbaugh mask this evening.
