I have not been able to read the whole of the article since this is my husbands first Saturday off since tax season and he gets upset when I start to scream like a fishwife. by the way I have listened to the writer once and he hate Royko. Anyone wishing to email your thoughts to the ''gentleman'' might wish to compare how Royko was a much better writer then this putz.

...those Republicans in Congress kept tax cuts for the rich, while trimming billions of dollars from programs that help the needy.

Glad to know there are others as upset with what we are finding out as I am.

I can't sleep many times. I am fine and then go to FR and see an article or comments that incite the rage and my fingers are off and flying. Then my mind keeps on spinning and no sleep.

My husband also keeps saying - "You are wasting your time with that". But, what else can I do about it - but speak up.

"...those Republicans in Congress kept tax cuts for the rich, while trimming billions of dollars from programs that help the needy."

Show me these programs for the "needy" that are being destroyed--oh, sorry, "trimmed". Just once I wish one of these tools would cut the rhetorical crap and face the reality that he has no right to the money earned by the rich--none, zero, zilch. (BTW I am far from rich.)

Show me these "needy" people who are being "hurt" by the largest government this country has ever seen, packed with pork, with money falling out of the sky for "the needy".

Cut the rhetoric, cut the single anecdotal stories, give me hard facts showing that this country 1. has the right to TAKE money from the rich and 2. how the "needy" are effected. Let's have it or shut your damned "feeling" yaps.

"The budget, which still falls short of being balanced, trims $10 billion from Medicaid in the next five years."

Oh my GOD! $2 billion a year????? OH, the HUMANITY! However will we sustain it?????!? Two whole billion, while those evil rich folks are allowed to keep the money they make, and fuel our economy with it! No, I say NO! Redistribute NOW!

I hope you're happy with yourself for causing my coronary, LJ. ;)

Ah--it's just more of the 'pubbies's are bein' mean to poor people' that we've been hearing for years & years. Of course Constable could have written about Wisconsin Gov Doyle vetoing legislation that would have extended school vouchers for another 1500 poor students stuck in bad gov't schools in Milwaukee seeing as how Milwaukee is just a suburb of Chicago. But that would have been a case of Dims being mean to poor people & he would have had to really do a gymnastics routine to pimp Terri Schiavo into an article about school vouchers...

Forget emailing Constable. You might get a reply, but it will be Rat infested logic. Been there, done that.

To paraphrase Mr. Lincoln
You can please some of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot please the liberals or the MSM any of the time.

What I have done is talk to the general editor of the Daily Herald. I am always polite and explain my position. Then I keep telling the only reason I keep my subscription is due to the guy that handicaps the horse races.

Terry Schiavo must be spinning in her grave.

You bet. Because all you Liberals who are now bleating for the handicapped, the needy and the “most vulnerable members of society”, not only sat back and did nothing to help her, but in fact, VOTED to murder her. You bet she’s turning in her grave- a blind face to you.

For people who think its acceptable to throw out a perfectly healthy baby, killing Terri Shiavo is not a big stretch.

I think you can get the horse race information from their website, can't you?

I've had some email exchanges with Burt Constable, but it's pretty much useless. He's a cartoon character liberal.

The Daily Herald has other problems that they won't admit to, but they are a better alternative to most of the local Chicago-are papers.

Good point. He criticizes what he considers to be the hypocrisy of the GOP for voting against Medicaid while voting to keep Terry Schiavo alive. Yet he himself has the opposite hypocrisy. He wants to spend money on Medicaid, while pulling the plug on invalids.

So he's saying that it's inconsistent to be against murder and against wasteful government spending at the same time?

I used to get into running feuds with jack mabley.
Been doing it since he worked for the Chicago Rags.
He always answered and was polite, but full of Rat rhetoric.

This is comparing apples to oranges. Passing legislation to keep someones life support(come on don't nitpick about life support now!) from being removed and passing legislation to cut taxes on programs are not the same and do not amount to saving life with one hand and taking it away with the other.

This is just democrap politics talking here, IMO, trying to make republicans look bad. It doesn't matter what repubicans do dems will find something wrong with it.

There is no grave for Terri. Only ashes hidden away.

Now, tell me that Michael Schiavo isn't still hiding his crime?

I think the lib media should be required to visit Terri's grave everytime they use her name to make a point or comparison, especially when it is inappropriate or illogical, as in this hack's feeble attempt to capitalize on a dead person.

Yes. The grave. . . if it can be found.

Bring back Slats.

"Now, tell me that Michael Schiavo isn't still hiding his crime?"

All of his beavior these last few years reminds me of Poe's The Tell-tale Heart. Mikey wants to eradicate all physical evidence that his "beloved" wife ever existed. I wonder if he can still hear her heart beating.
