Which makes me wonder, why was this ever NATIONAL as opposed to local news? There are thousands of active missing persons cases at any given moment. Real ones, with confirmed and not speculative abductions. Why can't the media spin machine focus on one of those, as long as they're busy turning the national news into a soap opera?
The wiles of Satan are insidious.
You haven't figured it out yet? Events don't make the news, the bigwigs at media corporations make the news.
I'm waiting to see if she is diagnosed as having amnesia.
I think it was national news because FOX's Jonathan Serre is based here in Atlanta and is a darned good reporter...it was a slow news week, and of course Greta Van whatshername MUST find a replacement for Lacy Peterson or they're going to cancel her show.
It's always news when a good looking white girl vanishes.
I can't imagine a bigger waste of my and my family's time than watching 24-7 celebrity trials and police blotter journalism.

The media needs an attractive white villain.
They made a fool out of FOX & Fiends and the rest of these types of show. Started to watch Hannity last night and all he had on was thus drivel. IMHO Sean is in a downward spiral..Can you ever in your wildest imagination see El Rushbo wasting his precious time on such stupidty?
Why was this national news?
- She is pretty
- She is white
- There was a good hook (14 bridesmaides, groom at the altar, etc...)
- There was a good picture to flash on the screen
This makes the case good TV. It was easy to produce a compelling story, and the national news chains picked it up as a prepackaged gift, and used it to fill air time.
The news vultures are a remorseless machine. They scoop of information and turn out minutes of air time, like some great sausage maker that never stops. And, as with sausage, they aren't too particular about what bits they use or what comes out the other end.
Also, note that my statment of yesterday that the presumptive groom would have to be absolutely insane to submit to a polygraph test was right on the money. The police would have had him convicted in the media before this woman had picked up the phone. His lawyer would have gang-tackled him and sat on his chest before he let him take a polygraph.
I couldn't help but wonder how many minorities disappeared that day, or on the days leading up to their weddings, and wonder of wonder, no media coverage. Let's face it, the media like attractive white people, otherwise you're not a story.
PS- I'm white and not into conspiracy theories!
