A teacher with a) some personal presence and b) a lick of sense can keep a classroom under control. I did it for three years.
It's entirely possible to threaten in such a way that if your words are repeated to Mom by a crybaby student, they don't sound at all menacing.
But not every teacher possesses your skill at wielding a broadsword.
I would suspect that if you had that particular Vice Principal around she'd rather have you conducting legal street theatre like some sort of amateur Greg Craig than trying to control your classroom.
Really? I left the classroom the year before last. I had kids who were allowed to talk whenever they wanted and get up and move around at will because they were special ed and it was part of their disability. I had 7 or 8 per class the maximum number allowed so they didn't have to hire a special ed teacher. They broke into the lab and killed all the lab animals (pets really). One boy grabbed a girl's breast once to often ( I had reported him at least five times and thrown him out of class) and she turned around and stabbed him with a small pair of scissors. He was not seriously injured thankfully. You have no idea what happens in the classroom these days. The special ed laws have ruined education for everyone. I taught 15 years ago (did a great job). This time, I lasted one year before I quit and went into business. I make more money, work less and sleep better.
