ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A 5-year-old girl was handcuffed by police after she tore papers off a bulletin board and punched an assistant principal in kindergarten class, according to a video released by a lawyer for the child's mother.

This has actually been posted multiple times.
Read a little of the braided brat's history and you'll wonder why the cops didn't shove her in the Iron Maiden, along with her mother.
she could have a future as a diva in the wwf or wwe.
Why?
Sorry, please remove if necessary. Did several searches but nothing came up under the msnbc title.
How about some links to that history?
Because the LEO's actions were way over the top IMHO. She is 5 - if this were a pre-teen or teenager I could see their behavior being appropriate, but not a young child like this... Someone needed to talk with her to find out WHY she was so upset at such a little thing. They don't need to obviously upset her even more by handcuffing her. Obviously the girl has a problem with rage, and dealing with anger - something that needs to be dealt with. Now, because of the PD decision that is most likely being overlooked and she will not learn the lesson that needed to be learned - instead the adults around her are focusing on what the PD did wrong, and not the actual event (her tantrum).
Duh. I'm computer-illiterate and don't know how to post a link here. Look at some of the other threads on this subject, or google some of them. She pulled this same stunt multiple times at the same school. (Sorry; wouldn't want my kid to lose out on learning time because SOME parents don't raise their kids to be anything other than wolverines in public.)
Maybe a swat in time would have done good. Maybe it wouldn't. Who knows what kind of bizarre home life this kid had. I sure don't see a dad in the picture.
A 5 year old isn't that articulate. The behavior has to stop. Kids no longer deserve public schooling when they entire with learning. There was a time when a paddling would make the correction (which saved many a young man from jail, I am certain), but that is no longer a school option.
I didn't see = I didn't say
This piece is darn near a week old. Do some folks have an affinity in posting old news?
I'm with you. Call in SWAT.
Be sure to get the little turd's worthless parents too.
It was odd, how she calmed down when told police were on the way. Could she have had some kind of bad experience associated with some people who were subsequently caught by the cops? Like a parent/relative on a drunken brawl?
I read this piece last week. I forwarded it to my children 24 & 26. Jeffrey and Diana told me that this kid should have been spanked for her behavior. Then again WTF do I know...
They still had corporal punishment when I was in school as well... Knew a kid who was spanked in Jr. High - didn't help the situation whatsoever. Maybe it's just my personal experience getting in the way, but I'm under the impression that most kids who act this way learn it from somewhere. It's a control issue. Most kids who end up hitting a teacher or principal are most likely hit themselves... Therefore, being hit by a teacher or another person in an authority position only further reinforces the message that control is achieved through physical means.
You are entitled to make any conjectures you like, but their validity is far from obvious.
Little criminals grow up into big criminals.
Some trauma now (i.e., being handcuffed) might drive home a lesson that has been sorely missing from that child's life.
Of course all the sob sisters and Dr. Spock acolytes would prefer to see the child burn down the freakin school because she obviously has "issues" and God knows we should all be allowed to confront society regarding our "issues".
Unless you're a conservative Republican, in which case your issues are considered irrelevant and you'll just have to internalize all your concerns.
