Poll: Forrester, Schundler tied and Corzine would beat either

A broader survey found Democrat Jon Corzine, who faces no serious primary rival, retains a solid, though shrinking, lead over the Republicans. Corzine held a 47 percent to 33 percent lead over Schundler, and a 46 percent to 36 percent edge over Forrester.

'Ivette Mendez, a Corzine spokeswoman, said the poll numbers "don't mean a lot to our campaign." '

Yeah, right.

So after spending $60 million of his own money to buy a US Senate seate, Corzine is going to run for governor and if he wins give up the last year of his first term as sentator.

What a bunch of fools in NJ. NJ residents get exactly what they vote for.

I was polled over the weekend, but I do not think it was this poll. The poll questions that I was asked were more skewed toward Forrester (centering on a primary race), so I am assuming it was a poll by the Forrester camp.

The GOP hasn't even had its primary yet. It's vital that the GOP stick together regardless of who wins the nomination this time. I'd love to see Schundler take another crack at it, but I'm certainly comfortable with Forrester against Corzine.

So far, I've liked what I've seen. The GOP candidates are refraining from attacking each other and are concentrating on Socialist Johnny. If they stick together after the primary, we've got a real shot.

Jon Corzine will be New Jersey's next Governor. The RINOs don't want Bret Schundler in the statehouse. So we know how its going to turn out this year.

You said it. I expect Corzine to name his replacement to the Senate when he wins.

Any bets on whether or not it's Bob Torricelli, just to rub a little salt in the wound?

We all know New Jersey politics are corrupt. The Democratic power brokers who run Trenton will probably suggest someone they want they in Washington. We'll know soon enough the name on tap.

I like what I've seen, too. I'm supporting Forrester now but would be OK with Schundler as well. There is a lot of resentment building about rising property taxes, inefficient school board spending around the state, and general corruption in Trenton and throughout the municipalities. My property taxes have gone up ~50% in 5 years.

I think conservatives and Republicans must become engaged during the campaign process if we want to prevent Daddy Warbucks Corzine from buying the governorship.

Is there a NJ Freep group organized?

Does it even matter anymore? A RAT will win, make things even worse, and we will have to hear the whole woe is me stories all over again.

What about Steve Lonegan?...the best conservative in the race...a budget hawk, social conservative, opposed to affirmative action, longtime supporter of tougher enforcement of immigration laws, twice elected mayor of heavily-Democratic town of Bogota, has pledged to take on the out-of-control leftist NJ courts....I love the guy...but the local media is, not surprisingly, ignoring him

Lonegan for Governor

Because wasting your time hoping for one of these guys to win is a fruitless and endeavor with no upside potential.

I live in Yonkers, NY and am depressed as you are with what is going on, on all levels by both parties. As far as I am concerned, both parties are terrible and killing this country. Just one wants it done faster than the other.

Geez, we've got to at least give it decent shot, no?

I'm not ready to cave in to Corzine.

you nailed it right on the head with your last sentence.
Has anyone followed the story of the New Jersey Secretary of State? Talk about inept, inefficient, corrupt, and any other word you wish to use. Missing millions? Same old story, no accountability.
Torricelli mentioned above was kindly "outted" and released from the senate in shame...but as we all know shame means nothing to a corrupt politician...no jail time...and he's renegaded to making millions as a "consultant" (boo hoo) while collecting his pension from the government.

Generally...I agree with you...but there are a few Republicans who are actually pretty good and I think Lonegan is one them...I think he's the only one in the current race...Schundler lost my support after his last pathetic run for governor when his general campaign was filled with the same old RINO re-treads he had just defeated in the primary

Yeah, I've heard the story about the SoS...spending money to study Ukranian knot making and Chinese rug art (or something like that). LOL!! And then, she rejects calls for her to step down after a connection to Kerry's campaign, and promises for a job if he won, was revealed.

The guy on 101.5 FM in the morning is pretty good at reporting the corruption / waste stories. He's calling for NJ citizens to adopt a program called "GRIP" - Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians. Maybe this approach will build some momentum.

It is a very sad, sad state of affairs in NJ. But, this could be the time to get real reform; it seems like voters are beginning to feel the property tax pinch while at the same time hearing these corruption/waste stories.

Read Sun Tzu - the Art of War.

NJ is not the place to waste valuable resources. NJ is gone. The landscape is so spoiled and infected. If after Torricelli, McGreavy, etc etc etc, the public is even considering another RAT, than that should tell you enough.
