Oh, this looks quite interesting! I do hope this sort of attitude catches on.
It's a shame to see how liberalism infects even these institutions.
I guess I hadn't considered Marymount Manhattan to be a catholic college for some time, but I am shocked to see Marist College listed. Is this accurate?
I work at a near by catholic college and we value our tradition of catholic higher education and heritage. We feel it makes us distinct in our tier and among our peer institutions. While the presence of members of our founding order will diminish over time, their mission is firmly embedded in the mission of our institution and resonates strongly among all levels of faculty, staff, administration and most importantly, our students.
Saint John Fisher College declared no longer Catholic? How sad!
St. John Fisher, pray for us!

If the president, who supports the ability to obtain an abortion in cases of rape and incest, were to speak at a Catholic college or university, would they lose their affiliation with the Church?
He does?
I thought it was Laura that supported that, not the President.
Good. You can't be pro-abortion and Catholic.

PRESIDENT BUSH AND THE RIGHT TO LIFE
President Bush, despite his oft-stated desire to re-establish a "culture of life" in this country, nevertheless seems to be as conflicted on the life issues as a large portion of the population. For instance, his stated "pro-life" position is contradicted by his justification of abortion for babies conceived through rape or incest.
When the opportunity arose for him to exercise presidential leadership by prohibiting stem cell research on human embryos, each of whom is a living human being a human subject entitled to protection from harmful scientific experimentation as called for in the Nuremberg Code of Medical Ethics he instead established a policy allowing taxpayer-funding of experiments on a limited number of stem cell lines derived from embryos who were already dead prior to August 9, 2001 and prohibiting the use of federal funds for the killing of more human embryos for experimentation.

Interesting.
Thanx!
Archbishop Egan just lept up in my estimation of him.

Since abortion is the direct taking of an innocent human life, one may never deliberately have an abortion or assist another in doing so (Ex 20:13; CCC 2271). Of course, the situations you mention are extraordinarily difficult such as when the pregnancy threatens the mothers life, when a child is conceived as a result of rape or incest, or when the child is severely disabled. These hardships should not be minimized; they require a great deal of compassion. But as difficult and tragic as they may be, such circumstances do not justify killing an innocent human being.
A distinction, however, must be made between a direct abortion (i.e., the intentional killing of an unborn child) and an indirect abortion. An indirect abortion occurs when an unborn childs death is an unintentional and indirect consequence of a necessary medical intervention to treat a dangerous and potentially life-threatening condition.
"...not with a bang but a whimper."
These are deliberate and very brazen anti-Catholic psy-ops against the church. Planned and well thought out by anti-Catholic forces and sworn enemies of the church.
How sad indeed. My beloved Buffalo Bills run their training camp there. Will they have to change their name to Fisher College now? Might as well make a clean break with things religious. The secularization of America rumbles on...
This is sad. How many Catholic alumni will be left without an alma matter of which to be proud?
Liberals are a cancer to our religious institutions.
