I find it fitting that when trying to compare Rush with someone of his calibur, the best I have heard is "The Johnny Carson of talk radio"

There is not a better compliment could one wish for.

Thanks for the transcript.

When Pres. Bush was asked, "What could be done immediately to improve gas prices?" He failed to mention "boutique fuels". Eliminating "boutique fuels" would open up a bottleneck in an overburdened refinery sector until Republicans get permission from Democrats to build new refineries.

Isn't progressive indexing much better for high income earners than raising the cap and increasing their taxes?

Nope, Now the Democrats have to come back with something. How can they say anything when the poor are getting a break and the rich will get soaked.

As I said before, Karl Marx would be proud. The socialist/communist travesty marches on. May FDR and his followers burn in hell.

The Democrats have no argument with the "this plan hurts the poor" anymore, but they'll probably use it anyway since people are idiots and won't do the math.

I'm always amazed that they scream and holler - but have not one scintilla of a plan of their own. You'd think they come up with something just for the semblance of having a plan.

Isn't progressive indexing much better for high income earners than raising the cap and increasing their taxes?

It's a ponzi scheme. Expenditures exceed collections in 2017. Taking the cap off moves the pivot point to 2024. The ratio of contributors to receivers is 3.3 to 1 today. That's obviously an average. Not all parties contribute equally. Losing a high earner hurts a lot more than losing a minimum wage earner. A revolt among high earners in the form of early retirement will blow a big hole in the projected numbers.

As a party who has paid max social security every year for the last 10 years, there is a strong disincentive for me to keep working at this level. Why put in 60 to 70 hours per week so the government can steal most of it?

The upper class doesn't need Social Security as much, but will still get more benefits than today, and PRAs on top of it.

That's nice. Politicians stealing money, then deciding who needs it. The obvious choice is those who will vote for the politicians offering the stolen property in exchange for a vote that keeps them in office. That scheme is working very well for the Democrats in California.

Hydrogen is not an energy source. It's an energy storage and transmission medium.

Every form of energy that we have ever used, from wood through nuclear fission, is just the harvesting of stored energy. The trick is to find a form of potential energy that can be efficiently produced and used in an application. Gasoline powered automobiles are good, electric/battery powered autos are less good, perhaps hydrogen powered autos will be better. All are driven by stored energy, it is just a question of using a power sources that has a sufficient energy to weight ratio.

It is better and would be more widely excepted among those with higher incomes. I am curious as to what Rush will say about this today on his program.

Still, I am hesitant about forcing the rich to pay an unfair burden of the taxes, or penalize people for doing well in a capitalist society.

I do know that the S.S. plan is antiquated and must be reformed and to this point you have Republicans offering ideas to fix it and Democrats saying no even before they hear the idea.

I have a 401K and it is a good, I am 100% vested (Employer matches dollar for dollar what I put in) and S.S. would be far better off in this format.

Our S.S. contributions go to current retired citizens and the money left over goes into who knows what pork programs. Knowing I actually have a retirement fund is better than a promise in a pyramid scheme reaching its end where the first ones in have already collected and we will be left holding the empty bag of promises.

It's sure nice to know we can keep the economy rolling as long as we get that ASBESTOS REFORM legislation through congress. What's up with THAT? Sure seemed to come from left field.

Not a press conference. Bunch of softballs and non-answers. You want to hear a REAL press conference--check out out the press GRILLED Tony Blair the other day. Sure would love to hear something like that here.

Bush did OK, but not one damn bit of news . . .

With liberal journalists, it the underlying hatred for Bush that they wish to make notice of, not how serious or informative the question could be to provide the public with useful information.

Wait a minute, I'm all for Bush, but why do I know have to pay for poor people to collect social security, that I won't be able to collect! I'd trust the market more, if I didn't lose my savings on Enron and Nortel.

Hey folks! Work hard all your life and be all you can be, but when you retire we're going to take some of your benefits and give it to the people who didn't work as hard. Mr. President you lose me on this proposal, as it smacks of socialism.

What the hell is going on? The GOP is loosing me on this one, but I can't vote for the lie-o-crats. I'm getting close to retirement, and I always had a safety net to count on, but not with Bush's plan.

Sorry, I can't keep defending the faith if this is the way it's going to go.

Ca we get Judge Brown to start a new party for the rest of us?

Well, I cant' agree with that. Johnny Carson was a comedian. Rush is serious with serious issues. I USED to like Johnny Carson YEARS ago but not in later years. Sorry to disagree but...I respectfully disagree and respect your like of Johnny.

Great interview! More incisive analysis of current events than from other sources. It's like you hearing a multi-expert discuss varying problems.
