The fact that every state where a vote on banning homosexual marriage wins overwhelming support actually shows this country is very single minded. There is no great divide. The problem is that a small radical group on the other side of the culture war can manipulate the levels of society because they are in control of major cultural institutions like universities, the courts and the media. I see their grip on these areas weakening over the next decade as, thankfully, the baby boomers start retiring or dieing off. Wont be quick enough as far as I'm concerned.
