Im sorry but money doesn't help one deal with certain problems.
How shallow can one be to think money makes a loved one's injuries easier to 'deal' with ?
All the money in the world can't make Judy's son better again.
I don't quite understand the envy people have towards those who've made or have money.
Like their personal woes are don't hurt as much with $$$$$ Totally untrue and jealous thinking.
And people don't become journalists as a money making proposition.
They become Doctors or Lawyers or something more linear towards profit making.
Al's brother is a Veterinarian.
His career choice was considered more stable than Al's when they were much younger.
Al's family wanted him to become something more $$$$-making then journalism.
So they both worked hard and had some luck and have money.
So you hate them cause they're liberal and now because they have money ? Yeesh
I'm glad they're both disappearing from public view and I won't miss them for a second.
As far as their son is concerned, don't you dare tell me that money doesn't help them deal with his situation. If they need a private nurse for him 24/7, no problem. If he needs a special school or tutoring, they don't have to make a decision about what bill they can put off this month so he can get what he needs.
So how does that make me shallow? I'm stating the obvious here, and you want me to feel sorry for them??!!? Well I don't. There are thousands of parents in this country dealing with children with spina bifida without the resources Al and Judy have, and THOSE are the parents I empathize with.

It's very perverse and strange - bespeaks of a selfish and greedy entitlement or of some deranged sense of empowerment in the arrogance of capitalistic anti-capitalists. Reminds me of old stale cliches expressing "liberal" contempt for middle class materialism (consumerism) and morality. As if the middle class should not afford to be consumers and they should renounce morality?
A general consensus of morality is the necessary cohesive and pragmatic mortar to sustain an ordered society. Only the decadent wealthy elite, like the monarchs and aristocrats of yesterday, can afford amoral sporting.
I digress as always: E.g., infanticide is immoral and partial-birth abortion is not immoral. "Yeesh" ???
We are all sorry about her son's afflictions and we will pray for his recovery. But that child's situation has nothing to do with our disdain for this news couple.
We dislike the couple because after all these years they still don't get it ----- they are in lock step with a depraved national party and continually make excuses for a political party and its candidates where none are reasonable, logical nor moral.
