If Arlen Specter doesn't support his party, he should be stripped of his Judiciary Committee chairmanship. He shouldn't be allowed to have it both ways on an issue of concern to his party.

Isn't it grand how Bush bailed out Specter during the primary fight? Now Bush is helping out the Clintons and calling the Minutemen 'vigilantes'. What a guy!

If Arlen Specter doesn't support his party, he should be stripped of his Judiciary Committee chairmanshipSpecter was spouting the White House line on another subject today. On Michael Smerconish's AM drive show in Philly, Specter ripped into the Minutemen for taking the law into their own hands and expressed concerns that they were illegally detaining people - both of which are out-and-out falsehoods. Then he had the stones to say that this was a government responsibility but was very difficult.
And Smerconish is such a suck-up that he did not challenge Specter's misrepresentations. He'd rather keep his access to those in power than challenge them.
