FRANKFORT - Daniel Mongiardo just can't win.
As a lifelong bachelor at the age of 44 during last year's U.S. Senate race, Mongiardo was the target of Republican insinuations that he might be gay.
Now that he's dating a 19-year-old woman, he's drawing static for robbing the cradle.

Hey, his girlfriend is an adult and he if he wants to marry her, that's no one else's business. Ok, there's a disparity between their ages but if they're in love, it shouldn't be an issue.

The only class I have is for anger management. ;-)
Seriously folks, 19 is legally an adult in every state of the nation. 100 years ago, it was common for women in many parts of the country to marry when they were 14, in some cases to men who were considerably older.
As for myself, 19 seems OK, 14 would be kinda creepy.

As soon as she gets a year older it will seem less awkward. For whatever reason, 44 and 20 seems more reasonable than 44 and 19. I guess because at 44 and 19 it looks more like 3 decades of difference rather than 2.

The 25 year age diffeence is creepy.
Can you imagine him at 25...looking at a newborn girl and saying....I'm going to have an intimate relationship with you some day?

Let's see: he'll still be in his 60s when his kid grows up. Ok mom and daughter look like the "Gilmore Girls." So people make jokes about their looking like sisters. With today's life expectancy she'll be a grandma before hubby croaks.

Unless she's an extraordinarily bright 19-year-old, I can't imagine what they'd have to talk about. (I could understand the physical attraction, but come ON! And besides, what does a 19-year-old see in a 44-year-old, anyway? If they ever got married, she'd be hiring rent boys in 20 years while he doddered off in his wheelchair.)

That's a stereotypical portrait of elderly people. My father, God bless him, is almost 76 and he doesn't need a wheelchair yet. Old age brings wisdom and as the election of Pope Benedict demonstrated, 78 is no longer an age when folks need to think about a retirement home.

There's a group of "old guys" in their late 70's and their 80's who ski our local mountain about 3 times a week. They ski great and are in great shape ....probably better than a lot of men 1/2 their age :o).
To: goldstategop
Oh, he's in love alright. We're all adults here. I won't list what Mongiardo is in love with. Let's just say it's not her intelligence.....probably.
Age, at that age, is a number. Legally, she's an adult. But what does a 19 yr. old know about life at that age? Not enough to recognize an opportunist.

True, but it indicates poor judgement.

What do you mean poor judgment? She's 19 years old and an adult. So they took a liking to each other. As I said, if two consenting adults love and marry each other, that's still no one else's business.
