Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- After giving a prominent speech in which she called for common ground on the abortion debate, Senator Hillary Clinton has refused to meet with a coalition of pro-life groups that sought to dialogue with her.Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition and one of the leaders in attempting to secure a meeting, said he was "profoundly disappointed" Clinton refused to meet.
"It now seems that the statements Senator Clinton made, concerning finding common ground on abortion, were politically motivated and not sincere," he said.
A spokesman from Clinton's Senate office had not returned a phone message by press time.
Mahoney said Clinton's comments should be viewed as an attempt to moderate her public perception in advance of a potential 2008 presidential bid.
"These comments should now be viewed as an attempt to reinvent herself and appear less radical on the issue of abortion in light of the 2008 race for the White House," he said. "I think it is critical that the American public focus more on what Senator Clinton does concerning abortion, rather than her rhetoric, as we move closer to the presidential campaign season."
During her January speech to abortion activists, Clinton said there is "an opportunity for people of good faith to find common ground in this debate."
The former First Lady said Americans should agree that "we want every child in this country to be wanted, cherished and loved. We can all recognize that abortion in many ways represents a sad, even tragic, choice to many, many women."
The speech shocked abortion advocates, who later defended Clinton.
In another speech, in March, Clinton bashed President Bush for not using taxpayer dollars to fund groups that perform or promote abortions in other countries.

Plus, she came out VERY "progressive" in the speech in Minnestoa a few weeks ago, and you add to that the little appearance she made with Robert KKK Byrd, Reid, Schumer, for Moveon.org rally, she is trying the Kerry tactic of playing both sides of every issue--
It is up to all of us to make sure that she is no more successful than Kerry was!

So Hillary lied about wanting to "find common ground" with pro-life groups? Who could've predicted this shocking development? [sarcasm]

"It now seems that the statements Senator Clinton made, concerning finding common ground on abortion, were politically motivated and not sincere," he said.Well now, there's a shock. Hillary will never be president. We've had one of them for whom there is no hallowed ground but themselves. We will not have another with the same name.

Clinton said there is "an opportunity for people of good faith to find common ground in this debate." Of course she won't meet with them! Did they think that she was a person of good faith?!

I guess Hillary is "reporting for duty" ala John Kerry. ROFLOLThree stories in as many months from just Lifenews.com, suggests to me she's busy trying to masquerade herself as a moderate on just this one hot-button issue.

hey little mis hillereeeee...I don't approve of murdering babies in this country much less in another country so keep your big hands off MY tax dollars and use your OWN money for a change.
She couldn't meet with the pro lifers cause it wouldn't have been a scripted conversation/debate and THEREFORE she can't stand on her own. How many times have we said that. Unless it is scripted this woman can't think on her own two feet. She will say something she can't afford to say cause she doesn't have the brains NOT TO!
Plain and Simple!!!!
