FWIW, you'll often find that offensive linemen are the brightest guys on a football field. There's something about the repetitive drilling and intensive memorization of various blocking schemes that lends itself well to an academic setting.

The New York Giants team that won the Super Bowl in 1986-87 had an odd collection of professionals on their offensive line. From left to right, "The Suburbanites" as they were called, were as follows:

Brad Benson -- owned a car dealership, and was the only offensive lineman who did not have a professional degree
Billy Ard -- licensed stock broker, worked on Wall Street during the off-season
Karl Nelson -- industrial engineer
Bart Oates -- accountant and lawyer
Chris Godfrey -- lawyer (later became heavily involved with a pro-life group called LifeAthletes)
