KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee offensive tackle Michael Munoz decided to quit football after he was not chosen in the NFL draft over the weekend, his father, NFL Hall of Famer Anthony Munoz said Monday.

The All-American started 46 games in his career despite injuries, including a torn rotator cuff that ended his senior year before the Southeastern Conference championship game in December.

Hope he doesn't end up like the guy, whatshisname, who QBed Virginia Tech before Vick came along. I heard he was working at Hokie Honda.

Heisman winner Jason White wasn't drafted, either.

Good luck to him. Big Tennessee fan here. I hope he actually got some bit of an education and finds a new path.

There's a reason he wasn't chosen in the late rounds. Aside from his injury, scouts doubted his committment to football. I guess they were right.

My bet is that once the "shock" of going undrafted wears off, he'll probably get right back in football. Just give him a few weeks.

How can u quit when you went hired ? He could have signed on as an undrafted free agent with some team and been given a chance to win a spot at camp.

I suppose our local indoor football team would take him (for $200 per game).

Just read the whole article. He sounds like a great guy. Already working on a Masters and well-prepared for life after football. Alot of these big guys are relieved when they don't have to carry around 300lbs. for a living.

You know, you rip up your body for many years, the academic life probably looks good. Glad he got an education.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Kurt Warner wasn't drafted either.

I think this kid's previous injuries are what's giving him second thoughts.

Before everyone piles on to Michael, a few notes. First, he's a solid citizen, raised well by his father, who led the Bush 2004 campaign in SW Ohio. He suffered alot of pain over the last four years and would likely have suffered more in an NFL career. His sister is also a great athlete, and he's been around one of the greatest lineman in NFL history.

He could certainly get a free-agent opportunity in the NFL, but I think this is a decision that should be respected. Remember, Jason White wasn't drafted either.

He's probably sick of being compared to his famous Dad and eager to make his own way in life. Turning down any opportunity to play pro ball seems crazy to alot of us who had that dream in highschool, but if you grew up around the NFL like this kid did the thrill of fame wears off.

Damn! . . . just damn!

Now dear Anthony will have to go back to school and finish up those pesky classes he skipped in preparation for the multi-million dollar contract with the NFL.

Classes like English 101, Soc. 101, Math (prep for General Math 101) and the like.

Wonder how he'll like selling insurance?

IIRC, the QB before Vick was DeShazo.

Remember, Jason White wasn't drafted either.

Surprised at that considering teams took a chance with Andrew Walter of ASU and Peterson of Oregon who both suck.
