I'm all for making it harder for people to declare bankruptcies in most instances, just as it shouldn't be the easiest thing in the world to get a divorce in most circumstances.

That said, something SHOULD have been written into the bill restricting how aggressive the bloodsucking credit card companies can be in marketing to poor pople, dumb people, and young people (who are often both poor and dumb).

I didn't mean to threadjack your post. I just thought it was odd that she would single out that particular bill as something good the GOP has done.

In this environment, anything that stalls the predatory merchant will not live. The buyer beware era is moving back upon us. In some cases, it's good. But I've read many freeper stories, some very intelligent and knowledgeable folks, that have been sucked in by the small print or overly agreesive tactics of some credit lenders. Unfortunatley, you can't do due dilligence on everything, otherwise you'd never be able to do a transaction. There needs to be some moderation on both sides.

And here I thought the 'You aren't smart enough to decide for yourself what's best for you, so I'll force you to do as I think best. For your own protection, of course.' mentality was the domain of elitist liberals.

I like the Tort Reform as well.

How would you extend credit to poor and dumb people?

If you give them credit, you know that most of them will default. So you charge a higher interest rate. Or would you just lend them money and lose your own money year after year?

The people you mentioned have two options, high rates or no credit at all.

My sister recently paid off some huge credit bills and she was persuaded by folks (Liberals bielieve it or not.) to declare bankruptcy. She did not and paid them all off. You can get balance transfers you know. I myself am in a bind due to bad business decisions I made earlier in the year. It IS stressing me out and I have bitched about certain policies of my creditors.

So enact all of the policies you want, the bottom line is that you would not loan money to a bad risk demographic without a high interest rate as you would lose money.

Aw hell. I am not making much sense but at least see the other side's view and if you honestly hate them, you have at least taken an honest look at the Credit companies.

Arioch7 out!
