Vote To End The Filibuster Expected This Week! Call Your Senators today!
American Family Association ^ | April 24, 2005 | Donald Wildmon

Posted on 04/25/2005 7:20:44 AM PDT by Just Kimberly

The most important vote in decades is expected in the U.S. Senate this week.

A vote to restore the Constitutional standard of a simple majority to approve a judicial nominee is expected. Liberals want to control the appointment of all federal judges by using a filibuster, making sure only nominees they approve will get a vote by the Senate. They, of course, will only allow liberal activist judges to be voted on.

Please call your two Senators today and tell them to vote for the Constitutional standard of a simple majority vote. Liberals are bombarding your Senators with phone calls. Make sure your Senators hear from you!

Take Action Enter your zip code in the box above and click "GO" to locate and call the direct numbers to the Washington offices of your U.S. Senators. Although it may cost a dollar or two, a phone call from you is one of the most personal forms of communication and helps to emphasize the importance of this critical issue.

Using the 60 vote method, the liberal minority in the Senate effectively usurps the power of the President to appoint federal judges.

If only liberal activist judges are allowed to serve, over a period of time the co-equal power of the three branches of government will disappear. The judiciary will become much more powerful and will set the agenda of the country by decreeing laws from the bench instead of through Congress.

Enter your zip code above to locate the direct phone numbers for the Washington offices of your Senators.

Please, please forward this to all your family and friends and urge them to call their Senators! This is extremely important.

Sincerely,

Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman American Family Association

You can also call one, or all of these swing politicians.

I received this by e-mail from the Center for Reclaiming America:

The Center has identified seven key senators whose votes may well
decide the fate of the filibuster rules change. We are asking all
member of our online team to contact these individual senators,
urging each to FULLY SUPPORT THE FILIBUSTERING RULES CHANGE.

Even if none of these seven senators is your own senator, please
invest the time needed to call each right now.

Sen. Lincoln Chafee (RI) 202-224-2921
Sen. Susan Collins (ME) 202-224-2523

Sen. John McCain (AZ) 202-224-2235

All we need is 2 of them to support the change. I think that can be done. I think at the end of the day we will have Warner, DeWine, and Sununu. Also, McCain would be a fool not to vote for the change (if he has any ambitions for the future that is).

Thank you for that encouraging news.

I wasn't going to waste my time contacting my senators, as they are Schumer and Clinton, but then I changed my mind and did.

I asked that the recepitonist tell Senator Schumer that I was very disappointed in him for being one of the principal leaders in the filibusters, and he could redeem himself by voting FOR the nuclear option, aka Constitution option. I also asked that she please tell Senator Schumer that the Dems call the Constitution a living and breathing document, but think the SENATE RULES should be set in stone.

I think that the Republicans should move to end the use of the judicial fillibuster. But, I think that it will be pointless for the Republicans to act. Why? Simple, the dems or the ACLU will simply take the matter to their favorite liberal court. That court will simply rule (de facto amend the Constitution) that fillibusters are part of the Constitution.

Called each of them. The phones of Warner, Collins and DeWine must be off the hook. I tried several times for each of those, with no luck.

Freepers, keep the pressure on! This is our chance, let's show the Republicans how important this is to us.

I've been getting busy signals, but getting through, as well. I'm going to call the ones I do not reach today, first thing in the morning - maybe it's easier to get through then.

You are correct about keeping the pressure on as that's just what the other side is doing, and we need to counter that.

Immaterial if your senator or your state is midnight blue or fire engine red. NOW is the time to call. Nothing is more irritating than hearing these folks tell us that "no one cares about this issue because we havent received one call supporting filibuster reform" blah blah blah blah.

Call.

Now is the time.

If you want some good info on the filibuster, its history and the justification for returning to 220 years of Senate tradition by eliminating the judicial filibuster......please go to www.fairjudiciary.com -- there is an article from the Harvard law journal by Marty Gold that shows the whole enchilada.

'All it takes is one voice, singing in the darkness...'

How can we EVER expect ANYTHING to change if we take this attitude?

'You can't fight City Hall'. Why NOT?
'There is nothing I can do'. How COME?
'I am only one person'. So WHAT?

Do we lie down and give up because the mountain is too high?

Ya'll can - but this girl is pushing on! GET THOSE PHONES RINGING!!!!! EMAIL, GO IN PERSON - WHATEVER IT TAKES!!!

Giving up and being negative and fighting amongst ourselves is what the DEMOCRATS are COUNTING ON!!!

WE STOOD TOGETHER IN THE 2004 ELECTION. IT IS TIME TO DO IT AGAIN!!!

EAGLES UP!!! JK
