IMHO, the news people aren't deliberately spreading falsehoods. It's just that their pea brains can't get around the complexities of the case, so they simplify and get it wrong. And nobody in the newsroom is capable of factchecking, so the wrong gets on the air.

Oh, I believe it's absolutely DELIBERATE! Just ask the likes of DAN RATHER. Nope, MSM is run, owned and operated by the elitist LEFTISTS with a CLEAR agenda

while I think your tagline is clever, I disagree with your post. It was a watershed event, perhaps like experiencing 9/11 in very slow motion.

I don't bother watching anything on cBS. I catch the local news and weather on ABC, which is just as bad. If I stay up late, the best local news is on Fox 11.

MSM's perpetual twisting of facts and disregard for the truth, would be almost funny if it wasn't so dangerous.

GULFPORT, Fla. — State investigators found no evidence that Terri Schiavo had been abused or exploited by either side of her family, according to documents released by Florida's Department of Children and Families.

These are the fine folks who lost aproximately 1200 children, that were supposed to be monitored regularly. Social Services around the country has dropped the ball so many times, they should just privatize the whole damn scheme. I've read stories where a child was placed back into an abusive enviroment, only to end up dead a week later. In some communities, they go after homeschoolers, of all people. One social worker said although they have to investigate each and every report, she spends most of her time dealing with false/malicious reports. She told me this personally. This prevents her from investigating actual abuse and neglect. I'm sure it's the same story everywhere.

As for the story about DCF not finding any abuse on anyone's part, they obviously didn't look too hard. Explain how a well cared for patient ends up with that many fractures and broken bones??? Hint: osteoporosis didn't have time to set in during that period of time. DCF is primarily responsible for minor children. It's difficult for them to even get around to elder abuse, never mind a handicapped woman in a politically connected institution.

Since Joie Chen of CBS News got the basic facts wrong, is it possible that she didn't even bother to read the law?

As we now know, CBS already had an anti-Schindler, pro-Schiavo obituary -- complete with quotes from Michael Schiavo's brother in reaction to an event that hadn't occurred yet -- loaded and ready to be put on the wires once the word came from Pinellas that Terri had died.

Everything written in Bernard Goldberg's Bias has been proven in the last year or so.

***

It comes from a lack of activity...and I don't care how much therapy she would have had, she would have still been inactive for the most part.

I also said somewhere that I had read -- people with anorexia or bullimia often are deficient in certain nutrients, and these deficiencies bring on all sorts of afflictions. Many anorexics/bullimics lose their teeth, so it would stand to reason their bones would become brittle and break too.

A lack of activity causes fractures and breaks in bones? Are you serious? A lack of activity causes bedsores and heart problems, not broken bones. She was too young at the time of the bone scan, for these kinds of problems.

Due to lack of therapy after her hip replacement, my mom was mostly sedentary for several years. No broken bones when she died at age 82. Explain that. She also had Alzheimer's and dementia, and wouldn't eat properly. She apparently lived on store bought lemon merengue pie, while the entire family was yelling at Social Services to do something. She was also being ripped off, but she had rights, ya know :( So, we have an 82 yr old woman who isn't eating well, was not getting enough "food" through her feeding tube, yet thankfully didn't break any bones.

Btw, she died with almost all her teeth intact. Unlike Terri, my mom went to the dentist up to the last couple of years. We don't know if Terri was actually anorexic, or bulemic. This could have been a scam on her husbands part to extract more money for a settlement. IIRC, he sued a gynecologist for not recognizing her "condition". Sooo, did she, or did she not actually have an eating disorder? She looked pretty healthy to me. I've seen full blown anorexics and speed freaks. Terri didn't look like them. If she was vomiting constantly, that pic of her before the "accident" would have shown damaged teeth, not those pretty pearly whites.

DCF is a joke. Don't depend on them to get anything right. Especially in Florida.

You're too kind ... they have an agenda and they bounce to it like a hen on a Junebug. Joie knew what the law read, knew what the intentions were, but she cannot be honest because it doesn't fit the modus operndi of the BM (big media).

the bonescans were taken 13 months after her 'attack'
and by that time the fractures had healed.

That doesn't leave much time for your so called 'inactivity'
Certainly not enough time for osteoporosis to set in.

Actually, I think her husband's attorney is the one who said she developed osteoporosis from a lack of activity. And I know no one seems to take him seriously either.

I said before in a number of related threads that I did not particularly like either side in this whole mess (actually I think we had more than two sides, what with every other person, special interest group, government entity, etc. etc. sticking their nose in all of this). I'm not defending anyone's position. What I am presenting to you are certain alternative theories. Trouble is that some people are so wrapped up in a particular position, they won't even consider that there could be other reasons for what has gone on.

When I quoted the article above, I was using it as an example of certain aspects of this matter that have not been publicized. Obviously, the Schindler camp is not going to put out this report, or if they are, they are going to use the information you did regarding certain problems with the agency that did the investigating to attack its credibility. I suppose next someone will try to dig up a connection between Mr. Schiavo or his attorney with members of this agency. Just seems that whatever is adverse to one's position gets swept under the rug. And that seems to be true of all sides of this sorry situation.

"Since Joie Chen of CBS News got the basic facts wrong, is it possible that she didn't even bother to read the law? "

Facts mean nothing to liberal propagandists. SInce this was essentially a conservative Republican effort, the Dems and their liberal handlers in the leftist press automatically view the situation not from the perspective of right or wrong, but from the perspective of "How can we use this issue to attack the Republicans?"

ITs as simple or as vile as that. Terri's life means nothing to these sharks in search of a propaganda point.

His attorney has no medical degree, is never sworn in on these matters, and nearly everything he ever tells the Press is a bogus lie.

I'm appalled its just HIS talking-points to the media you are relying on.

I belonged to other forums/chatrooms...not affiliated with FR.

But why do the establishment media always err on the side of death, be it abortion or the rights of the disabled to live? Every time. (Unless it's a disabled Muslim, of course.)

I don't disagree that there is a reprobate sector. But there is wholesome one, as well. But what I was getting at about the memory of what happened to Terri was more mystical (for lack of a better word). The conscience has a way of waking from its slumber.
