Right-Winger Blasts O'Reilly
New York Post ^ | 04/25/05 | Richard Johnson, Paula Froelich and Chris Wilson

RABID radio host Michael Savage is whining that he has been banned from the Fox News Channel after he dissed Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity.

The controversial conservative — who was fired by MSNBC in 2003 after referring to a caller to his show as "a sodomite" who should "get AIDS and die" — recently burned more bridges by calling O'Reilly a "Leper-Con who poses as a conservative" and Hannity "another Republican bootlicker who began as a Rush [Limbaugh] understudy" on his "Savage Nation" radio show.

Savage claims that he's been bumped off four scheduled appearances on Fox News Channel in the wake of his caustic comments.

"These two are now acting the way the mainstream media has been acting for decades, thinking they are the gatekeepers of who shall be heard in the conservative world," Savage sputtered in a statement.

"Both are jealous of my audience and are trying to silence me because they do not want the competition."

The gay-bashing broadcaster isn't the only publicity hound taking aim at O'Reilly, the undisputed king of cable news.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue, famed for firing off several press releases a day to media outlets, is ticked that O'Reilly once described him as a "witch-hunter" and Pope John Paul II as an "autocrat."

"My members are a little bit fed up with him," Donohue claims. "I guess he feels like if he is to the left of me, he'll appear more fair and balanced. We're on the same side philosophically on most issues. But I feel like, when someone crosses the line from criticism to disparagement, I'm gonna call them on it."

A Fox News Channel spokesperson responds: "One is a well-known hater, and the other is a notorious publicity hound. We congratulate them on their successful attention-grabbing efforts."

Frankly, people should have a problem with O'Reilly because he's half nuts.

O'Reilly is a pompous, self-important, airheaded egotist with delusions of grandeur and relevance.

And he's 1000 times better than Savage.

A pox on them both.

That is probably the most accurate comment about O'Reilly I've seen yet.

Hannity hasn't had an original thought since he was born.

He only knows how to rephrase what Rush says each day.

Dunno, Savage can be funny, especially when he's in the depressive phase of his bipolarness.

Michael Savage is not rabid or whining, and "dissed" is not a word except among urban scum.

Nor is Savage a gay-basher in any way that isn't deserved. Only the vile need fear his sermons; modest gays with no special agenda have no right to feel threatened.

I find Savage to be entertaining, but I don't blame Fox for not wanting him on.

Can't you like both?

I enjoy both Hannity and Savage....

Savage's humor is very sharp...And very cruel and times..
But he's got his opinion and doesn't mince words...

Savage has a following in both parties and those without a party.. He's been the leader in the media on the border and illegal immigration issue and I think he could bring a divide among conservatives on this issue alone.. That's scary for the Republicans in power.

I remember Hannity's concern at first about the Minutemen and how he was concerned about vigilantes--- Funny, same words from Bush.. He's since come around because he feels it's safe to be on the issue now...

I am a Bush supporter but my allegiance ends with his border and immigration stance. If the Republicans aren't pro active and listen to the Savages and the Hedgecocks of the world, then the Republicans will be divided in elections to come..
I know this because I am one of them and there's a heck of us out here fed up with the just talking about the border and immigration..

Thank you Michael Savage for placing that as a foundation ( Border, language and culture) that most are just getting to touch on it in the other media marketplaces.

After 9-11, I think it's issue #1 and it's been poo pooed by both sides....

I agree. I don't hate Hannity, but I never listen to him. He's a dim bulb compared to Rush. Savage can be a lot of fun at times, simply because his schtick is so different from everyone else.

Savage is full of it. He used to talk about what a great guy Hannity was when Hannity had him on the show promoting his book. He threw a hissy fit when KSFO in San Fran had a contract dispute with him and dropped his show and replaced him with Hannity reruns. Savage is the kind of jerk who hates anyone he has known for awhile.

Until they can raise the dead, cast out devils, and heal the sick without failure, in Jesus name, none of them have what it take to remove the evil and curse that plagues this world.

If you really understand the following verses, you know what the solution is to all our problems. So far, not one of these talk show hosts has gone into a detailed discussion of them. Therefore, they obviously have about as much power to change the world for good as a hot air balloon.

Romans 8
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

You mean you can't be a blabbering idiot AND have a talk show at the same time? Someone please tell Al Franken that.

AFAIK, calling John Paul the Great an 'autocrat' would be a compliment, as 'autocrat' is also in the job description.

Savage is very intelligent, but he's also full of hate and anger. I've turned him on many times and always turned him off before the first commercial because he commits the ultimate sin of broadcasting: He's boring. His obsession with gay people is boring. Who cares what people do in their sex lives? His incessant negativity is a real strain. Rush Limbaugh may not have the intellect of Savage but he does a hundred times more with what he's got, namely an intelligent and original view on news stories.

FOX isn't some public microphone. Savage sounds like a little baby whining like he deserves to be on FOX because it's his right. Savage has a very off-putting style on TV. Hannity isn't one-tenth of Savage mentally, but he's at least easy to take. Savage is a boring hate-filled motormouth.

BTW, why would anyone be offended by O'R describing the Pope as an autocrat? Isn't that the whole point?
