My sentiments exactly. Libraries are just another socialist government handout/redistribution scheme. I pay $150 a year in library-related property taxes, primarily to educate other people and their children. I'd much rather pay my own way. Any takers on setting up a government system to provide me with DSL service? I didn't think so.
And besides, they aren't just building libraries for books anymore, they're building mausoleums to house every type of audio/visual media. It is getting out of hand.
This is one of the few times I admire the UK over the US. There are far more book sales there per capita than here (I've been told by friends who traverse the Atlantic) because their libraries are so deficient. Kind of makes me wonder what they do with all that tax money.

Except that libraries have existed for FAR longer than socialist governments or anything resembling them.
