Bush Boosting Hillary in '08?
Newsmax.com ^ | 4/24/05 | unknown

By befriending Bill Clinton so enthusiastically, ex-President George H.W. Bush is inadvertently helping Hillary Clinton to reclaim the White House in 2008, a longtime Bush family confidante said Sunday.

"They're trying to move Hillary to the center for 2008, and this helps de-demonize her and her husband," the unnamed Bush insider tells the New York Daily News.

An unidentified Clinton aide agreed that the ex-presidents' warm relationship is giving Hillary's presidential bid a big boost, proclaiming, "It gives [Mr.] Clinton back some legitimacy."

Sen. Clinton certainly left no doubt that she approves of her husband's new pal, telling the News, "They really have been having a great time together."

Until recently, most Republicans had been confident that the former first lady couldn't win a general election, secure in the knowledge that the Monica Lewinsky scandal had left both Clintons irreparably tarnished

President George W. Bush used the scandal to great effect during his own 2000 campaign, regularly promising audiences that he would "restore the honor and dignity of the White House."

But now both Bushes seem determined to rehabilitate the impeached Democrat.

"Maybe I'm the father he never had," an emotional Bush 41 recently speculated, referring to the fact that Clinton's father died in a car crash before his birth.

And the familial references don't end there.

Describing Clinton's recent heart surgery, Bush 43 joked last month, "When he woke up he was surrounded by his loved ones: Hillary, Chelsea and my dad."

And if that's not enough to make Clinton critics queasy, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush now reportedly refers to the 42nd president as "Bro."

Not unreasonable to suspect that the Clintons have the goods on the Bushes. ....and have for quite some time.

Too bad dear Jeb didn't think of Terri Schiavo as a "sister" as he now refers to Clinton as "Bro".

Maybe old man Bush is still the dumb ass he's always been. He's a Rockefeller republican, favors open borders and big spending and never was loyal to the conservatives that voted for him.

Oh yeah, like it never ever occurred to him or any of his associates that this might be the effect.

Well, that would explain why Bush seeks to associate himself with conservatives.

Yeah, you're right. ....This is simply a case of two men who share similar "humanitarian" concerns and have honestly grown to like and respect one another.

Don't bogart that joint, btw.

I agree! The Bush's are not dumb. They do not do things without a calculated reason. Neither does Rove. We may not know what is going on but I'll bet it's NOT that the Bush's just like Billy Bob better now.
