''I don't see what purpose signs would do, other than have an unintended consequence like this,'' said Dean. ``It creates hysteria.''

Hey, guess what, Dean? If the criminal justice system DID THEIR JOB, the neighbors wouldn't feel forced to behave like an angry mob. We need a complete and total overhaul of the system. It is so out of hand that the people know they will not be protected, and have to take matters like this into their own hands.

In 1991, when his family was living in Washington state, Claxton was charged with first-degree child molestation over an incident involving a caregiver's 9-year-old daughter. He was 24 at the time... He served 27 months in prison.

When his family moved to Florida in 2000, Claxton was listed as a sexual offender on the Florida Department of Law Enforcement website. For reasons still unclear, the FDLE website also indicated that Claxton was charged with the rape of a child, though he had not been.

No where in this article is described what the "incident" involved. That is rather shoddy journalism. The article is definitely propaganda attempting to generate sympathy for Clovis. Clovis made his unfortunate choice. I find nothing wrong with the actions of his neighbors.

"Florida law fails again."

I think Claxton was convicted in Washington state.

He was convicted in WA of molestation and registered in FL as a child rapist which led to the altered and harsh flyers being scattered about.

The FL bureaucracy did screw up again.

I think Claxton was convicted in Washington state.

Read the entire article, plus other articles that are available. Washington convicted Claxton some years ago of molestation, not rape. From the above article:

In 1991, when his family was living in Washington state, Claxton was charged with first-degree child molestation over an incident involving a caregiver's 9-year-old daughter.

When his family moved to Florida in 2000, Claxton was listed as a sexual offender on the Florida Department of Law Enforcement website. For reasons still unclear, the FDLE website also indicated that Claxton was charged with the rape of a child, though he had not been. Sheriff's deputies checked in on Claxton and did not consider him a threat but took him into custody at least five times for threatening suicide.

At his son's side lay one of the lime green fliers that had been dropped into neighbors' mailboxes and pinned to nearby trees, listing Clovis Claxton as a convicted sexual offender, highlighting his address and bearing, in oversize type, the words ``Child Rapist.''

The county sheriff's office is investigating the distribution and posting of the fliers. They were downloaded from the FDLE website, which is legal, but the addition of the words ''child rapist'' constitutes tampering, according to sheriff spokesman Sue Livoti, and it is a misdemeanor.

No where in this article is described what the "incident" involved.

On one of the cable news shows this weekend, I believe it was Fox News, it was reported that Claxton and the 9 year old girl exposed their private parts to one another.

If true, the parents should sue the state for the slander against their son.

Who is the 'they' you are talking about, if it is the satanic socialists, then I have against them and it is YOU who sold your soul to them for 30 pieces of silver.

"The FL bureaucracy did screw up again."

Probably. It also seems possible that there was a clerical or transcription error in the transmission of Claxton's information from Washington state. Either way, his predicament could easily have been avoided by not perpetrating crimes against children.

What happened to you and the weakened state it has left you in is unforgivable.

But from this post it sounds like you think that the guy in the story deserves what happened to him because of what happened to you.

That I cannot agree with.

Since these convicted criminals are basically unemployable and unacceptable as neighbors, then perhaps there should be a way to develope an "exile".

Australia has already been spoken for.

I was not thinking some sort of "survival" starter colony.

I was thinking more along the lines of a development with residences and telecommuniting jobs. If we can have Arvida or other developers develope all other forms of faux "communities", why not a purpose built one for convicted criminals in the middle of some desert.

Since they would work and live there voluntarily, perhaps a tax break to encourage them to move there?

The "they" is the socialists that you referred to.

Your soul is missing because in your response to FMC you demonstrated no empathy, no compassion.

Your humanity was missing and that means your soul was stolen by those socialists.

FMC suffered and scoped her post within context and you mocked her suffering with, "Oh, yeah, big deal, I lived under socialism."

In that case most all of us have no right to rue the suffering in our lives nor opine that criminals are evil because your suffering under socialism trumps all.

You went after her by referencing another thread and that is bad form to bring your baggage into another thread.

Finally, the slippery slope you refer is the argument that doesn't wash: everything can be argued as being on a slippery slope.

Being a conservative means you think and are rational, and it also means you have compassion without being sympathetic. I found none of those in your response to FMC.

(And what is this "30 pieces of silver" thing. Makes no sense. Wait, don't answer. I don't care.)

FMC put into context her thoughts on a subject and you acted, IMHO, juvenile and heartless.

Now, I have things to do today so I will now send you my goodbye.

Anyone who hurts a child and I do not care what the circumstances are, deserves to be dead! Good riddence to this trash.

As for you FMC, I'll will pray for you daily my friend. You've been made a victim, by a low life piece of trash, who doesn't deserve to breath the same air the rest of us breath. I hope he's in jail for life, facing jail house justice.

My whole point, to say those who commit violence, like what happened to me, can return to the community one day, I hope rehabilitated, oops nope there is no funding for that, so they leave a hardened criminal, and to the only life they knew before entering prison.

I wanted to say, is this who you would like to live next door? If so, fine, if not, should we not have access to find out, these are public trials, the names are not hidden, they can be found.

I do not think, I could ever trespass to another, especially if they did serve their time, but, I would pursue a neighborhood group meeting, to see what we can do as a collective. Until we make laws that do not allow such evil to return to society, we must find a way to rehabilitate and help them enter into the community.
