Twenty masked special and plain clothes police raided an evening seminar at a church in Izhevsk, the capital of the Udmurtia autonomous republic in Russia.
According to the Forum 18 News Service, police forced about 70 people outside the Work of Faith church April 14, calling them "sectarians" and "prostitutes," while they searched the building.
Nearly 50 church members were held for five hours at the police station and fingerprinted. Udmurtia's interior ministry claimed the Pentecostals had "distorted" details of the raid.

Exactly, while the Soviet Union was the direct, ambitious and hard headed Bolshavik/Stalin path to Communism, the EU is the Menshavik/Trotskite path, with cycles of ever more socialized capitalism leading to total Godless communism.
Did you know that not only is prayer in school there encouraged, but Christian education programs are provided in all schools and the military? Garyspfc's wife designed the curriculum. Abortions have also been banned after 12 weeks and the Church is pushing hard for an outright ban. By those standards, it is we who are Godless.
Sound's pretty black and self-righteous to me, unless one has evidence that jb6 actually feels that way. I personally would have been inclined to ignore the remark, but the "God is not Orthodox" certainly was offensive, even though it is a true statement -- since God is not a member of our or any other church -- God is who we Orthodox worship.
As a fellow Orthodox, I agree. It came across as self-righteous and offensive to me as well.
And I also agree that the Orthodox (us) do not believe that God is Orthodox...but we ARE 100% correct in the claim of being the oldest and 1st true church and that in itself brings much responsibility as well as a unique position in the world of church demominations.
Anyway - I'm not here to argue.
I wish a joyous Feast of Christs' entrance into Jerusalem - Palm Sunday - to all my fellow Orthodox FReepers! Spraznikom!!
What a terrible remark!!
You ought to apologise to ALL those you offended. I know, that YOU as a Christian realize that.
It never ceases to amaze me that the WACO massacre happened in the USA. I know Koresh was a cultist, but when I think about how the authorities could have simply arrested him on one of his many trips into town... I have to question the correctness of that seige.
Horrible picture. I still remember that day and my shock at seeing that MURDEROUS fire on my TV.
Blessed Holy Week to all my Orthodox friends!
As an Evangelical Orthodox Lutheran who attends a Serbian Orthodox church once a month, I will be joining you all for Pascha next Sunday.
The Orthodox-bashers on this forum know neither what they are doing nor what they are missing!
