Yeah, I know this wont last long on eBays auctions they will remove it and probably ban me from doing business with them EVER again, but Im tired of all of this!!!
Twice now eBay has allowed the listings of Consecrated Hosts to be sold on their auction site. The door is opened for more people to steal the Body of Christ and list it for monetary gain.
If you are not Catholic, understand that we believe that Christ is truly present in the bread and wine that we receive at Communion. At the last supper, He took the bread and wine and proclaimed that it WAS His Body and Blood and that through this we would obtain everlasting life. AND He said, DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.
Consecrated Hosts are to be consumed at the time of Communion and removing them from the church is considered STEALING. A DEVOUT Catholic would NEVER consider taking a Host from Church!!
Now eBay allows people to SELL it!!! And we dont even know if it is truly Consecrated or not! If someone is willing to STEAL from the Church, they would be willing to LIE as well!
So, in this last auction of mine, I am selling whatever is left of the morals on eBay. Warning though its not worth anything.
Go ahead and bid
good luck and may God have Mercy on us all.
Ping.
Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to write eBay with your concerns. I'm happy to help you further.
I understand that you are upset at having seen certain Catholic items or items related to the Pope on eBay, including item #6169851381. Because eBay's community is a diverse, international group of more than 135 million users with varied backgrounds and beliefs, there are times when some items listed on eBay by sellers might be offensive to at least some of our users somewhere in the world. At times, members may see listings that they may consider morally wrong or objectionable. However, even though these listings may be offensive to some, please remember that most of the time the law does not prohibit the items.
Due to the fact that eBay's focus is to have a free and diverse community, we are reluctant to interfere with listings that are not illegal. Regarding offensive items, there are many items that are considered sacred to many people of various religions, and we sometimes hear complaints about these items. Examples would be Catholic relics of saints, Mormon (LDS) garments, certain Buddhist tablets, etc. However, eBay has made the decision not to prohibit any item only on the basis of the item being endowed with sacred properties by certain religious groups. In general, eBay will remove items for a violation of our Offensive Materials policy only in extreme examples in which the listing explicitly promotes hatred, violence, or racial intolerance. However, we do not remove religious items that are otherwise legal for sale and do not violate any other eBay listing policy.
Please keep in mind that many of us at eBay may also share your distaste with an item, and may not support the sale. In fact, eBay has many Catholic employees. However, we do our best to understand and tolerate the many viewpoints held by our worldwide community. The Eucharist is not illegal to sell, and is generally allowed on eBay as long as the seller does not otherwise include hateful text or images in the listing. Although we realize that you may not agree with this decision on eBay's part, we hope that you can respect the diverse and open nature of eBay's marketplace.

"That is beyond stupid to think that."
Over one BILLION members of the Catholic Church believe exactly that. Are you anxious to call all of us "stupid"?
I would put your flame proof suit on...What you said was beyond ignorant...
Ignorant? Yes. Typical? Yes.
But could the RC church itself VERO the items as the trademark owner?
Yeah, how stupid. It's only what Jesus said in the Gospel.
It is horrendous, yet, be sure that God Himself will deal with them in his own time.
Vero, Vera, Verum?
I assume you meant VETO? Who hold the trademark on the Body of Our Lord?
Ebay bans the sale of the sacramental undergarments of the Mormons. They have banned the sale of items offensive to Islam. Is the most SACRED Sacrament of the Roman Catholic Church - one FIFTH of humanity - to be denigrated while other faiths venerated? Is that what you support?
No, the VERO program is a service eBay offers to copyright and trademark holders. The auctions are pulled nearly automatically.
They could also say that it is their property, stolen. That often works.
Nothing is sacred these days, unless it's non-christian.
That sounds like a great idea. I don't ebay so I just sort of assumed. My bad. Thanks for the clarity.
If this is your auction, then good for you. IMHO the bidding price is way too high. eBay is not a good corporate citizen, and their morals are certainly not worth the asking price. 30 pieces of silver is the going rate.
John 6:51-60 I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world."
The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us (his) flesh to eat?"
Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever." These things he said while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.
Then many of his disciples who were listening said, "This saying is hard; who can accept it?"
Doesn't seem like they understood there...
"I thought the whole Last Supper was symbolic."
That is the view of much of the Protestant world (although not all - the Lutheran belief is similar to, but not the same as the Catholic as is the Anglican view. The ORTHODOX is identical to the Catholic view).
Since the "symbolic" view postdates the Catholic and Orthodox view, the belief in the Real Presence is both the oldest Christian belief on the subject and the one shared by the largest single group and the clear majority of all of Christendom today and throughout history.
