I totally agree.
I believe it was Edward Banfield in "The Unheavenly City" who explained the difference between rich and poor people is not primarily how much money they make or have, but the length of their time horizon.
Rich or those who will become rich defer pleasures to study hard, work hard and save.
By attempting to fix problems _now_ government inculcates lower class values on society.
If poverty was treated as a virtue that could mold character then the stupid "War On Poverty" could end with the liberals admitting defeat and making the best of it.
