Not long ago, the FBI taped two crooked campaign fundraisers talking about how a high profile political figure had massively under-reported his campaign earnings from the 2004 election cycle. This was part of a wider probe into campaign finance violations by this figure and portions of his party.
“Ah!” you may be saying (with tongue clucking disapproval), “those Republican money grubbers are at it again. How can they line their pockets with the donations of honest people!” And yet if you said that, you’d be wrong. The man is Al Sharpton and the fundraisers worked for the Democratic Party.
So why is it that people automatically assume that all of the corruption and greed resides with the Republicans? It has to do with old, tired stereotypes that we would do well to forget.

Remins me of the Mark Twain story about the cemetery guy who buried all the Democrats' with their heads into the hillside, figuring that when they burrowed out to vote at the next election, they would instead burrow deeper into the hill.
And thats just in the leadership.
