I just like to make sure I know the whole story. Mountaneer filled me in. It's unfortunate that the guy had a brain injury and all, but I'm afraid I agree with putting the signs up, in this case.
You just hear about these 19 year olds getting hit with a sex offender tag when they're messing around with a 15 year old that's more developed than I am (or ever will be, I guess at this point. Heh!) They have to live with that the rest of their lives.

My only take on it is that there shouldn't be any signs because we (that's right, ~we~) shouldn't let him back on the street if he's still dangerous. I completely agree with involunary civil committment in these sorts of cases.
Why people ~allow~ him back out, but still think yard signs will do anything but cause chaos... escapes me.

when it's 2 young people, not far separated in age, and the girl is just under legal age, the boy just over, (IN MOST states, not all), that would be classified a sex offender if charged with rape. Molesting/raping a child, is a higher class sex offender or a sexual predator.
Sadly not all states differentiate, but they should. When it's a girl 15 who was a willing participant, for instance, I do not the think young man should be on any list.

A lot of us got through the late teens without molesting 14 year olds.
Unless you go right to the sex, there should be time to ask questions like, "When did you graduate?" "Remember when Britney was a Mousketeer?" "What was your favorite Guns'N Roses Song?" "Remember when Axl hit that woman with a vodka bottle?" "Wasn't Reagan the best?" etc
