Due to the nature of the crime, that is an exceeding complicated question.
I have always been of the mind that once one has served his time, he has paid the price exacted by society. That is such a set-in-stone attitude of mine that even sex offender notification laws make me a little queasy. How often must one pay for one crime?
Yet, the recidivism rate for such offenders is unusually high, and their victims are the weakest and most vulnerable in society.
I don't have the answers.

How often must one pay for one crime? Look at it from the other side. How many of our innocent children must we lose to the same sex offender because he cannot be rehabilitated?
