Federal Order May Require Mandatory Psych Screening and Medication of School Children By E.F. Winslow 4-22-05
There is a new, invasive government program coming to your state that is so Orwellian that it is seems beyond all belief. It potentially involves the mandatory mental health screening of all children in the state, and could actually mean that minors would be prescribed behavior-modifying drugs in school against their parents wishes. And to make the parallel to Orwell complete, the program is called the New Freedom Commission on Mental Health. The New Freedom Commission on Mental Health was created in 2002 by Executive Order 13263, but the recommendations and implementation of the program are just being released now. One of the six goals of the Commission was to make early mental health screening, assessment, and referral to services
common practice. This seemingly innocuous statement raised eyebrows with some in Congress, and Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) proposed an amendment that was prevent this bill from requiring mandatory screening and state-ordered medicating of children without parental consent. Last September, his amendment was defeated. He has reintroduced it this year as H.R. 181. ...

Hey... President Bush... This is flippin
CREEPY!
What is it with "New Freedom" crap? That sounds like the kind of propaganda I'd expect out of a Marxist for-your-own-gooder.

Any word on how this will impact private schools? I'm pulling my kids out of the public school system starting next year. The $7,000 plus tuition is going to hurt our finances considerably but considering the crap that they are pushing at public school, it is well worth it.
BTW, anyone out there know of a way to relieve the cost of private school tuition for elementary kids in the state of Colorado? Surely there is a group trying to get school vouchers passed? Anyone have a link?

Required medication? - I'm glad my youngest is now at university. There would have been a very serious disagreement. Imagine Nurse Ratchet as the school nurse. A line of drooling children getting their meds instead of saluting the flag.
I had 4 kids and the school district wanted to dope every one of them.
On the so called worst of them I told the school district that I was giving him the Riddling (I wasn't) and the district psychologist said how much better the boy had become.

I guess our kids aren't dumbing down fast enough for the new world order.
Got to make them pliable. Got to make them easy to overthrow.
Then end is near my friends.

I thought his Executive Order 13263 was revoked, 'Revoked by: EO 13316, September 17, 2003'?
Did that make this mandatory screening moot?

Maybe we can call it Freedom-lite.

Home schooling included? No. They don't receive federal funding.
The SC decided the children are not the property of the state when the right to homeschool was first brought before it. HSLD would fight this type of federal invasion.

It's time to buy more ammo, some sandbags and go to the house. I remember this, but I thought surely it would get stopped somewhere along the way.

Yeah they view home-schoolers as a threat though. After all, the home schoolers are "costing them money" since funding is based on attendance figures. Much like the democrats and their "we can't afford a tax cut" mantra.

We can't drop our guard for one second. I can't even imagine an agency doping my child. This is getting way out of control! My God!

We can't "warehouse"/institutionalize schizophrenic nutjobs who are a clear and present danger to themselves and others, but we can drug exuberant and active kids (who, we are told by the all-knowing dominant media, aren't physically active enough to counter the "obesity edidemic")?
To: NormB
I guess our kids aren't dumbing down fast enough for the new world order. That's a more honest reason for the program than we'll ever hear from the .gov crowd.
To: francke
Must be Ridilin prescriptions have fallen below quotas.
The miracle drug teachers love to push. But don't say that out loud.
