You know how Rush Limbaugh has an excellent track record at predicting trends or attitudes amongst liberals?
Well, not to compare myself to El Rushbo, but my intuition was certainly borne out this morning when it came to the issue of the attempt of 20th hijacker Zacarias Moussaoui to enter a guilty plea that could result in the application of the death penalty.
I was sure that Katie would be concerned over what could be seen as an attempt by Moussaoui to commit suicide. And sure enough, in her interview of 9/11 Commission member Tim Roemer, she raised the issue, musing whether he might be seeking to make himself a martyr, etc.
Roemer declined to comment at any length, but did say something to the effect that the evidence is that Moussaoui is sane.
Consider the grotesqueness of Couric's moral compass. When it comes to Zacarias Moussaoui, a self-admitted member of Al-Qaida, a man who proclaims his loyalty to Osama Bin Laden, a man who has on his hands the blood of thousands of innocent Americans, Katie is concerned lest he be permitted to commit suicide.
But when it came to Terri Schiavo, an innocent, defenseless woman whose desire to end her life was highly questionable, liberals had no qualms: starve and dehydrate the woman to death!
Behold the twisted logic of the liberal culture of death.
Today Show tears-for-Moussaoui ping.
Keep Moussaui alive. There is no deterrant value to killing him, and killing him might result in motivating the terrorist rhetoric.
I don't see what's so confusing about it.
To Dems, Life is all about "second chances", but you aren't entitled to a first.
Paging NBC's advertisers....
I'll reserve judgment until I see or hear this, but the way you've described this incident, I don't know what it has to do with Terri.
A grateful Freeperdom thanks you!
Andrew McCarthy at The Corner at NRO noticed the same thing about the New York Times:
THE NEW YORK TIMES AND THE "CHOICE TO DIE" [Andy McCarthy]
It was only a month ago, during the Terri Schiavo controversy, that the New York Times, dubiously assuming Terri was in fact in a persistent vegetative state, was editorializing about how sensible it was for the Florida courts to have accepted the "testimony of her husband that [Terri] would have chosen to die rather than live indefinitely in such condition."
Now comes today's interesting report from the Times's Eric Lichtblau about Zacarias Moussaoui's apparent intention to plead guilty to participation in the 9/11 conspiracy. Such a plea could result in imposition of the death penalty. Upon noting that, in a letter to the court, Moussaoui has "asked to be sentenced to death," Lichtblau speculates: One question likely to be raised by defense lawyers is whether Mr. Moussaoui's desire to be executed is, by itself, evidence that he may be mentally unfit.
The Times, as ever, sports all the trendy, progressive pieties. It is in euthanasias right to die vanguard, but it is revolted by the death penalty, even for mass murderers.
So, follow the logic: Expression of the supposed choice to die, if purportedly made by an innocent but inconvenient person, based on proof of the most suspect nature, must at all costs be deferred to on the theory that it is a personal and thoughtful decision. To the contrary, expression of the choice to die by a guilty terrorist, proved indisputably in an unambiguous written assertion by the person himself, is actually evidence that the person is mentally unfit on the theory that, well, who in his right mind would make such a personal choice to die?
Got it?
Who said Terri would have been better off if she were a terrorist?
Please have a look at the article posted at #8: apparently I'm not the only one to have made the connection.
The basic point is that liberals are terribly concerned about letting a terrorist commit suicide, but were delighted to let "assisted suicide" be inflicted on Terri Schiavo.
Other breaking news at the Today Show: bed bug story and very real concern about a single mother....penquin! OK for human females but NOT for penquins? (Curiosity and the Devil made me look at this show....for a few minutes. LOL)
BOY do I need another cup of Joe. Meant to write GLGB. What I wrote is beyond dislexic (sp.) Ugh. Sorry bout that, Gov. :-)
Thanks very much for posting this. GMTA, and Andrew McCarthy is obviously a great mind ;-)
Go ahead, kill yourself.
****
No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky....... Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me....... With just a pocketful of soap......... Money for dope........ Money for rope........
****
Heres the rope, Moussaoui...... do your thing.
No prob at all: it's early enough that I was totally oblivious to any typo!
Will some of the same protesters carrying "Let Terri Die" signs outside the hospice be carrying "Not in My Name" signs outside the prison when Moussaoui gets his lethal injection?
Just wondering.
;-) Thanks, Gov.
Just wondering."
Worth repeating....
Thanks, jigsaw. My twisted pleasure, as always.
