While I agree that anything other than lock-solid case would be worthless to pursue against Clinton (him or her), this case is an exception.
The feds have tapes of incriminating statements by the Campaign Manager, through not by her. They have documents to establish that there were two sets of books for the Gala, with the lower (false) numbers being reported under oath to the FEC.
I'm already thinking about my next week's column. I believe the title will be "Hillary Clinton's Chappaquiddick." Rosen is going to be convicted. Unless he turns state's evidence, Hillary will be neither indicted nor tried. However, keep in mind that Ted Kennedy was never tried or charged in the death of Mary Jo Kopechne.
Still, the damage was enough to keep Teddy from ever getting the nomination, much less election, as President. I think the blow-back from the current situation will likewise cripple Hillary so she's no longer a threat to infest the White House in the future.
Congressman Billybob
John-I always enjoy you're article and look forward to your's on Hillary, but IMHO her Chappaquidick is Vince Foster.
Is this why we see so much feet dragging on Bolton and the Appellate nominee's?
Did the Dem's have wind of this and are looking for a quid-pro-qou and to go lightly on Hillary?
This happened under Ashcroft correct?
Oh, wouldn't that be sweet if major indictments and jail time comes form this for many Dem's after all the crap they gave him. I am not one to revel in another man's plight, but a potential moment of Shadenfrude from this one is to good to be true!
The trouble is, each time that contention is advanced, more folks believe it.
Thank you both for your thoughtful comments.
