I think this guy is going to make a great Pope. Once you cut past the bull from all of the different media, you can see he has some very clear beliefs.

In the same vein, today's
Wall Street Journal carried an excellent piece by George Weigel on Benedict XVI:
Indeed, and notwithstanding the cartoon Joseph Ratzinger, the new pope is a man of Christian happiness who has long asked why, in the aftermath of the Second Vatican Council, summoned to be a new Pentecost for the catholic Church, so much of the joy has gone out of Catholicism. Over some 17 years of conversation with him, I have come to know him as a man who likes to laugh, and who can laugh because he is convinced that the human drama is, in the final analysis, a divine comedy.

Interesting article. Thanks for posting.
I'm not Catholic, but I think the Pope is an important influence on all Christians, because of his leadership on moral issues. It appears to me that the Cardinals made an excellent choice in Benedict XVI. May God bless him.

"Sometimes he gives you something like a nudge and says, 'Don't take yourself so seriously!' Humor is in fact an essential element in the mirth of creation. We can see how, in many matters in our lives, God wants to prod us into taking things a bit more lightly; to see the funny side of it; to get down off our pedestal and not to forget our sense of fun," he said.I like that! :)

The cardinals who elected Pope Benedict XVI and the priests who worked with him at the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith had a common message about the new pope: Do not believe everything reporters have told you. The cardinals are risking being hit by a bolt of lightning from the ghost of Edward R. Murrow for uttering such blasphemy!! Don't they realize how almighty the Western Media is? LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

(Let us always remember, the Lord is in control.)
To: Unam Sanctam
In "Milestones," he wrote about being born in Marktl am Inn, Germany, April 16, 1927 -- Holy Saturday that year -- and being baptized on Easter in the newly blessed waters. "Personally, I always have been grateful for the fact that in this way my life from the beginning was immersed in the paschal mystery, which could not be anything other than a blessing," he wrote.
And now, he has been elevated to Pope during the Easter Season. Somehow, it all seems to be part of God's Plan.
