And this all happened within site of Jessica's home. Imagine the horror of being buried alive across the street from your family and there is nothing you can do.

Bury Couey alive and get it over with.

I've never had the reaction I did after reading this story. I got sick to my stomach.

It's clear that the state's laws are inadequate to keep the person who killed this child behind bars for life.

If that's the case, he poses a danger to wherever he would be go.

The state needs to seek the death penalty, unless they can absoluetly guarantee that he will never be paroled, etc.

I cant find words vile enough for the monster who committed this crime. This guy will get pity from the democrats - he is a poster boy for democrat values. Time to take the POS evil basterds like this off the street for good. What have we come to as a nation to allow criminals like this to roam free?

Irony is the judge who set bail for this POS stated in the court room that he "wished him luck". F'n black robed liberal judges who could care less about this little girl.

I have nothing to say that a .357 between Couey's eyes couldn't say for me.

I wonder if anyone will have the nerve to drop by this thread and talk about the wisdom of legalizing drugs like meth and cocaine?

There is a special place in Hell for people who do such crimes. Myself, I'd like to parachute him over Fallujah with him wearing an "I Hate Islam" T-Shirt or perhaps in the mountains of West Virginia wearing a BATF jacket.

Kafka's "the Penal Colony" was a story which mitigated against capital punishment. At Amazon a reviewer said the following:

Kafka's dark sense of reality shines through in this piece in his in The Great Short Works of Franz Kafka. As he often does, Kafka uses his alter reality as a metaphor for our reality. The Penal Colony is a peice about a machine that punishes criminals by slowly engraving a script into the criminals body spelling out their crime and eventually killing them. He details the workings of the machine; from it's bed of cotton and biting felt, to it's harrow, where the sharp needles lie in wait. Holding true to his metaphorical style, the machine represents a broader machine in our reality; the justice system. He subtley equates the the workings of the machine with the processes and workings of our own systems, obviously denouncing their mechanical ways. This is a great piece to introduce Kafka and his styles and should lead you to pick up others of his works.

Personally I think that this "guilt process where the criminal learns the true nature of his crime" should be implemented for the sexual predator since rehabilitation is not possible.

I would just like to say to everyone that it is a very sad and heinous crime that was commited. I do feel very much for Jessie and her father as well as the man consumed with evil who took the innocent girl from him. I simply don't understand how posting comments that he doesn't deserve to live and he should be put through a shredder feet first does anyone any good. I heard her father in an interview this morning on the MJ morning show and though he is heartbroken he does not wish to hurt anyone. He said even though he wouldn't be convicted if he killed the criminal that it would not benefit anyone. Instead he wants to promote awareness and help parents keep their children safe. I think that we could all learn a great deal from him. These comments of murder only make you the same as her killer... a criminal. Please do not conform to what society has made you believe is acceptable why would it be ok for anyone to take someone else's life? Really think about it. It is legalized murder! Nothing more. Let him spend his life in prison. Rather than the easy way out, why not make him spend the rest of his days thinking about what he did and getting right with God. If it is his time he will be taken.
