Just for consideration, snopes.com is part of George Soros opennetinitiative.net (ONI Web) project funded by Soros Foundation's Open Society Institute. See this post for other site that are funded in his ONI Web Project.

Ah but John Kerry made the daily news, published a protest book, appeared before Congress to tell his lies, and is honored in Vietnam to this day.
A bit more than Clinton's "loathing". What is more loathesome is that the media said that Clinton's draft dodging was not a problem but then made every effort to label Kerry a "war hero" (with an implied "unlike George W Bush). When Clinton ran against Bush and then Dole, there was no "served in..." statement in every article, regardless of any military or war context.
I hadn't heard that Snopes was funded by Soros but I did know that they are biased lefties there.
They also got a break from Microsoft that FR never got. The hoaxed image of Kerry and Fonda was permitted by Corbis to remain on their site (I directed Corbis' legal team to the site; all that was done is that copyright notices were posted). There IS no copyright on the hoaxed image unless Corbis has taken 2 different photos and applied for a license on that image. I can see supressing the hoax, but not copyrighting it.
FR never even hosted the picture, it was always cited from a separate independent server.
The left protect their own. According to Snopes, they still won't call Hillary a liar over the "Sir Edmund Hillary" comment; their excuse is that maybe Hillary's mom lied to her.
