BALTIMORE -- The 11 News I-Team has obtained the rest of the story about what Joe Steffen, an Ehrlich appointee, said on a Web site concerning Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley's personal life.
I-Team reporter David Collins said the Democrats have used the postings to portray Steffen as a Republican dirty trickster and republicans said he was set up. Steffen communicated with a mysterious Web site user calling themselves MD4Bush and we have both sides of the conversation that was originally done in private.
The summer of 2004 sizzled with rumors surrounding the personal life of O'Malley and Steffen got caught up in it by discussing the rumor publicly on the conservative Web site, freerepublic.com. Steffen resigned after The Washington Post exposed him.

The MD4BUSH saga continues ~ PING!
Sounds promising. Thanks for posting.
Pingeroo!
But the complete private e-mails obtained by the I-Team revealed another side of Steffen.
# E-Mail Exchange MD4Bush: "If some of my friends and I were interested in keeping the story floating, do you have suggestions for us on how best to do it?"
# Steffen: "I cannot and will not offer suggestions that may be considered unethical concerning what you should do, campaign wise. This is especially true concerning MOM's (Mayor O'Malley's) personal life. Work to hit the mayor constantly in letters to the editor (about city issues, not personal issues), call in radio shows etc."
The new private e-mails revealed the extent to which MD4Bush talked about the rumor.
# E-Mail Exchange MD4Bush: "O'Malley cheats on his wife and everybody knows it including my dentist. Where's the stained blue dress? This guy is worse than Clinton."
The e-mails show that it was MD4Bush, not Steffen, who added new dirt to the rumors and through out the private e-mails, MD4Bush appears to prod Steffen.
# E-Mail Exchange MD4Bush: "Your saying that my dentist knows (about the rumor) because of the work you did? Wow, I must say, I'm impressed. I mean really, everyone knows -- how did that happen?"
# E-Mail Exchange MD4Bush: "What works? What did you do to get it out this far? Me and my friends are going to do what it takes to get this out to everyone."
It was at that point, Steffen advises MD4Bush to stay away from O'Malley's personal life.
Sounds to me like Steffen got the shaft.
....{groan}
O'Malley is one slippery lizard.

Dear Jim, is there any update on the identity of md4bush who abused this forum to take out one of our own? I know you were waiting for an official request at one point. Just curious as to where the investigation stands or if they even followed through. Thanks.
bump.
And if MD4BUSH did this, why hasn't he been banned?
AKA Lee Key Lizard...
go ahead md4bush..report me to the Sun :)
I wonder if use of the plural "themselves" is a signal that MD4Bush is a group of people rather than a single person.
Bump to #10
These private emails seem to confirm the evidence of the public threads that were posted in the forum. NCPAC did NOT start any of the rumors, did not fan them, did not raise any speculations about them. All the rumor mongering was done by others, probably Democrat agents provocateurs.
The same appears to be true of the private emails. I'd say that Steffen was extremely careful and extremely ethical. The whole business of saying that he started or fanned any of these rumors, which was kicked off in the first Washington Post article was an outright lie.
It soon became evident that the Washington Post was nervous that they would be caught lying, and the tone of their subsequent articles changed after that first one. But they continued to keep the issue alive on behalf of the Democrat pals, and they continued to imply that Steffen was somehow guilty.
I assume Jim Robinson is biding his time on this one. But the upshot, for those in the know, is that once again the Democrats and their pimps in the MSM were caught with their fingers in the cookie jar, lying their heads off. The evidence is clear.
Was that real or sarcasm?
Thanks for posting; I do keep watch on this particular "event". As I said long ago, when reviewing the data; Steffen did not fan the rumors. Wouldn't it be just *something* to watch now to see who scurries for cover? Three bets it won't be Erlich and Team.
Ping.
