New Ad Rips Voinovich For Blocking Bolton

(SACRAMENTO) – The organization strongly backing the nomination of John Bolton to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Move America Forward (website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org), has released a new 60-second radio ad that will begin airing throughout the state of Ohio on Thursday criticizing Republican Senator, George Voinovich, for blocking the confirmation of John Bolton for U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

The ad features radio personalities Melanie Morgan and Tom Benner of KSFO 560 AM San Francisco and can be downloaded from Move America Forward’s website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org

“Senator George Voinovich single-handedly blocked the Bolton confirmation vote based on unproven, unsubstantiated and uncorroborated allegations of an anti-Bush activist dished up at the last minute by those whose only intentions were to obstruct President Bush’s nominee,” said Howard Kaloogian, Chairman of Move America Forward.

Kaloogian was referring to the fact that the allegations cited by Senate Democrats in their last minute frenzy of anti-Bolton material came from a self-described liberal Democrat who helped launch the Dallas chapter of “MOB” – Mothers Opposing Bush.

“It’s inexcusable that George Voinovich would follow the marching orders of some left wing activist over the recommendations of President Bush and Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice who enthusiastically support John Bolton,” Kaloogian said.

VOINOVICH’S MISSPLACED ALLEGIANCE

“We need someone like Bolton to help fight the corruption and anti-Americanism that increasingly seems to be the cause célèbre of UN officials. But a Republican turncoat Senator doing the bidding of the ‘Blame America First’ crowd obstructs Mr. Bolton’s confirmation. It’s amazing that Senator Voinovich could align himself with those who need no excuse to defend the United Nations yet criticize America’s Commander in Chief,” said Melanie Morgan, Co-Chair of Move America Forward.

Move America Forward is funding this advertising effort solely from the contributions received from its supporters, primarily through online contributions made at www.MoveAmericaForward.org.

“Since we announced our intentions to broadcast ads criticizing Senator Voinovich’s obstruction of the Bolton nomination, contributions from all around the country have been coming in and overwhelming our website at times. This is a stunning response from patriotic Americans,” said Morgan.

The organization is already preparing additional ads to air as part of the overall ad campaign, and the ads will run between now and the resumption of the Bolton confirmation hearings.

“We’re going to hold Senator Voinovich’s feet to the fire. If he thought he needed to be sensitive to the pressure from liberal Senators Barbara Boxer and John Kerry, then we think he should also be responsive to those Ohioans who want to see a strong advocate for U.S. interests at the UN,” Morgan concluded.

I'll vote for a Democrat before I'll vote for Chafee in '06.

Chafee is all done, the RI GOP (which still supports Chafee) is all done. Aside from our Governor and 34% of the voting population, there is no such thing as a Conservative Republican in the state of RI.

Though with your nickname it does bring new possibilities to the Linda Rondstadt ditty, "You're So Vain"

Not Linda - Carly Simon.

Good.

Chafee is beyond redemption. N.E. Republicans need to learn what happens when you abandon your base. Light conservatives as R.I. Republicans may be, he needs to lose.

I is one thing to be a Liberal Republican. It is quite another to stab your Party in the back. That is what Chafee has done repeatedly. That is what Hagel has done. That is what Voinovich has done.

"These radio ads won't do a thing to change Voinovich. Unfortunately, he's safe for 6 years. "

I don't think it's so much trying to scare Voinovich into thinking he will lose an election as much as it is about making him look 'bad' to Republicans. Since the disgraced Senator is so motivated by what people think of him (hence why he keeps selling out) I think that having Reps. in Ohio think he's stabbed them in the back might compel the good Senator to reconsider his alliance with the John Kerry/Barbara Boxer 'Blame America First' contingent.

I'm sorry, folks, but our cause is NOT helped when our first answer to everything is "It's the Democrats' fault." God forbid V. should have *genuine* concerns, and God forbid he should feel free to voice them.

Personally, I'd much rather have a Senator who acts and speaks from his or her own intellect than one who parrots the party line from the string being pulled on his back. V. "stabbed the President in the back" because he wants to consider the possibility that SOMEWHERE in this country there MIGHT be someone who is SLIGHTLY more qualified than Bolton? Please. Can we try being reasonable for a minute?

Sorry but not Linda Ronstadt, it was Carly Simon that wrote and sang that.

Get a grip. When "V" gets elected President, then he can kick over rocks to find somebody who is SLIGHTLY more qualified than Bolton. In the meantime, all that clown is doing is helping the scumbags.
