Of course they do. Anytime some new guy "sweeps a woman off her feet" with tons of attention, flowers, etc., and wants to get very cozy with her AND the kids in just a couple of months -- there's a predator. Ask Dr. Laura, or if you can stomach it, read Nabokov's LOLITA. Stupid women who fall for this might as well be handing over their kids on a platter.

Yes, right, it doesn't. I said basically the same thing on a thread about that Couey (Sp? Codey? I forget) who murdered the first girl in Florida recently, and the sheriff said he was a drug-fueled haze at the time. Now maybe the Sheriff only meant that was why he didn't remember stuff, but it IS important to realize that there are an awful lot of druggies and drunks in the world and very few of them a child rapists. And plenty of the child rapists and killers (and adult rapists and killers for that matter) are stone cold sober. So this is all just another excuse.

Not to be disagreeable, but I doubt this was the case here. So I'd say anytime some violent, ex-con thug comes to your house with a bottle of whiskey and wants to get a load on with your little girl sleeping upstairs, that might also be a predator. I know there are child molesters who seem like fine upstanding people, but this guy is beyond some pervert who wants little Sally to sit on his lap. He's a violent child rapist who probably didn't kill this kid by mere luck alone. I have a very difficult time imagining a person like this ever buying anyone flowers, not even one time in his whole destructive life.
I can't get over the fact that the most time he faces for arguably attempted murder, certainly aggravated rape, definate kidnapping is 15 years.
You Canadians need to change some of your laws, like do it tomorrow. I think you'd get longer than this here, esp. a two time loser like this guy. If not, we better change our laws, like tomorrow.

My question is who are these women who subject their children to these people? What is wrong with the mothers? She let a drunk stranger stay in her house with her child? And sorry, knowing him only a few months still makes him a stranger, obviously.

People are too complex and distinct for "analysis". But doing NOTHING to defend children is a sure way to allow another crime to happen, it is SURELY not a solution to problems. As long as we revel in our hatred of evil instead of exerting the necessary effort to defend the next generation from evil, we will all be lost to evil. We must use communication as the primary weapon. If you know what GOOD is than you must let it be known to all, even criminals. To ignore the good things, the beautiful things, is a sure way to propagate evil.

Yes this criminal must die for this horrible deed but killing one criminal is not going to heal the wounds of this child nor will it prevent other criminals from attacking children. A child does not need vengeance, she needs LOVE and safety and the acknowledgment of her needs. Are these concepts arcane? Have all of you forgotten what love is? I have only been alive for 15 years so I still remember what true beauty and serenity looked like and I'm eager to preserve this vision and to remind the "good" citizens of the US what they are all about.
I will ask you all this one question:
IF YOU WERE TO DISCOVER THAT YOU WERE THE SAVIOUR OF THE WORLD, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

There is more than one perpetrator. Killing one criminal will not prevent another from commiting a similar crime. We have killed them many times before and yet the crimes keep happening in full force.

I have dedicated my entire life to spreading love to the world and to ending misery and oppression. I choose to use my mind rather than my fist to solve problems. I'm not going to settle for an "emotionally appeasing" gory execution, no matter how evil the criminal or justified the practice of the punishment may be, IT'S NOT ENOUGH. If you want to call yourselves CONSERVATIVES, than CONSERVE something of value. How about conserving LIFE instead of seeking decadent pleasure through death and violence. Yes DECADENT PLEASURE. There is nothing constructive about discarding a living, breathing child and then making a media frenzy out of her attacker, nothing!!! There are many little children like the one in this article being ignored or treated like legal specimens while adults become preoccupied with vengeance. I despise violence and I can't even begin to comprehend how some could believe that it's the answer to humanity's worst problems. I choose to conserve life and love.
If you are a human being than you will be able to understand what love is.

They are very sick people. Only life in prison or the death penalty with fix their problem. That is not me talking mean because I'm a mom and have a daughter. I was a therapist and my husband is a psychiatrist. It is the truth.
