Ranking minority member Joseph Biden has pursued this course at the price of his own personal credibility. Not really. The MBNA Board of Directors doesn't care whether Bolton gets confirmed or not. ;)

The Powell/Armitage connection against Bolton was being floated last night. Disgusting petty revenge.
Powell signed a letter of former Secretary's of State in support of Bolton. Probably just another fabricated story by the media.

This is the same old story. Rail against a conservative and try to put pressure to get some mushy grape-like moderate in tht post. It happened with Nixon and we got Blackmun, it happened with Reagan and we got Kennedy. Bush seems to like to shove back and is not backing down. If Bolton is defeated, Bush should find somebody even more odious to the democrats. Is there anybody else around that used to work for Agnew??
To: Republican Red
I believe it was on NRO that it's the people at State that supported Powell and Armitage that are the problem.
But don't forget, Armitage was furious at being passed over.

Yes.... Just what the article said, Bush should use what ever leverage he has to get Bolton through.

Does anyone have contact with President Bush's people ?
His people need to tell President Bush to get in there and fight for John Bolton's confirmation.
Your right, President Bush needs to lead the charge for his confirmation, and don't let the Democrats get away with bringing up trumped up charges.

If he is furious of being passed over for the job, then, he has a ego and jealousy problem while the whole county suffers for it, of his immature attitude, and for that reason, ARMITAGE is not fit to be in any governmental job at all.

That about sums up the entire United States government, IMO.

I hate to think this is payback and thought more of Powell than this kind of petty behavior. I know that Powell isn't universally liked here, but I have had a lot of admiration for him in the past.

Does anybody know what Voinovich's reason is that he missed the Bolton hearings? I've yet to find out where he was that kept him from attending.

I did too. Maybe I'm being too harsh on Powell, I don't know. I do think Armitage has a mean streak though. And anymore I put nothing past the UN lovers at Foggy Bottom.

Well, there may well be a very good reason that so many freepers don't like Powell, or trust him. I had just thought more highly of him than to engage in petty personal attacks like this. He always seemed to be his own man and didn't seem interested in power, which generally speaks well for him.

Is Voinovich stupid, evil or corrupt? Does anyone know the real story on him. A vote against Bolton is a vote to endorse Kofi and the Oil for Food scandal.
To: Howlin
I agree with you on that.

Thanks for the Ping, Howlin.
Sleuth....you are on to something there.
Powell was no puppet.
And the State Dept. has assets that are often used in the intel field.
So if they are gonna spread some words...he has to take some too.

"Come on guys, FIGHT THESE GUTTER RATS!!!
You got it right. Where is President Bush? He should be leading the fight, instead of running around the Country with SS. The heck with SS. Those brain dead AARP don't want to rebuild the soon to be broke system. Meanwhile we are falling apart."
Really. Where is Karen Hughes? He needs her advice NOW.
F*#* SS. Get the right judges appointed as well as Mr. Bolton. He needs to get his butt home and kick some serious a*@.
