THE WASHINGTON TIMES
As a theologian, the new Pope Benedict XVI has proven himself to be a subtle thinker able to see both sides of even the most violent disagreements -- but one who in the end consistently came down on the side of obedience to the Church in Rome. The young Bavarian prelate was considered a progressive reformer at the debates of the Vatican II council in the mid-1960s, but grew increasingly disillusioned by what he saw as a watering down of the faith and a loss of religious influence and direction across the Western world.

Shockingly enough!
lol
Yeah, what were the odds they'd appoint a Pope who DIDN'T believe in the Catholic faith?
As an agnostic I have been FLOORED by the babbling boobs on TV who are acting all disappointed because this choice doesn't "reach out" or some other mushy euphemism for "becoming less like the Catholic church which we obviously despise."
Yep. Most of the media talking heads have been downright disgusting and offensive in their coverage of this.
New pontiff loyal to Church theology
........'EMPIRE'
The Pope is Catholic! Stop the presses!
'We are moving toward a dictatorship of relativism....that recognizes nothing
definite and leaves only one's own ego and one's own desires as the final
measure.' Pope Benedict XVI
Bump for plain-spoken truth.
I am so impressed with our new Pope.
I already love him dearly.
John Paul 11 obviously found Benedict XVI a kindred spirit----intellectually and doctrinally. No doubt that influenced the College of Cardinals' selection process.
Let us pray that even with the great burden he now holds on his spare shoulders---with so many global believers of all faiths placing their fondest hopes in him---that he will move ahead surefooted, stand fast in the faith, and let nothing deter him from the great tasks ahead.
I am awed by him.
Didn't think it possible, but I am.
All of us ---the entire world---will be hanging on his every word from hereonin.
The Pope IS Catholic.
