I agree with you. The most obvious problem was Voinovich, but Lugar should have been aware of what was going to happen going into the meeting. Unless the two have personal problems, somebody who was supposed to count noses didn't. Lugar got blindsided and came out looking like a fool.

At the same time I am not about to throw in the towel on this one as some seem to be. Even two years ago Bolton would not have even been a serious consideration for UN Ambassador. We are winning the war and tossing down your arms when you lose a battle is not the way to keep doing that.

Cannot argue with the logic of that. We need to find a way to put some steel in the spines of the weaker links and get rid of the truly problematic, like Hagel and McCain.
