OK..here's what we know..Senate is in recess for the weekly party caucus luncheons. Supposed to resume at 2:15. on C-span 2.. The Foreign Relations committee is supposed to meet at 2:45 to vote on the Bolton nomination. Lugar has refused requests for a delay. Just before the Senate recessed, Reid objected to Frist's UC request for the Froeign Relations committee to meet today. Frist withdrew his request..
I did the same thing Sat with an RNC donation request..I wrote a nasty little note with no check and mailed it at their expense....and guess what...today I got another RNC donation request in the mail...I had just finished watching the hearings..bad timing on their part..LOL...so I got a twofer in one week.....I'll spend my measly donation on my 3yo grandson who appreciates it.
Mom? Is that you? :)
PS: I will not happen, do not raise up your hopes in case you are an anti-Republican.
The dems made a big deal out of being able to call Bolton back. I hope they do.
I'm not sure what his strategy will be. I'll be interested to see if others, like Dr. Rice, speak out on his behalf first.
I certainly agree with everyone this was awful, but I don't think it's over yet and there's still hope.
The Republicans better get their act in gear. This smearing of good people (we can all hark back to Bork and Clarence Thomas and so on) needs to be dealt with. Bork lost, but Thomas won (and remember the wringer the dems put their former colleague, John Ashcroft, through? And he made it and that was in doubt at one point). They'd better spend these weeks addressing this and getting these weaklings in line, too.
LOL!
I caught a glimpse of him at the beginning, and I couldn't take it. I heard his speech was a bogus bunch of self-absorbed tripe.
I've been thinking about including a $500 check w/my letter to the RNC............w/a red magic marker "VOID" written across it. 'Can't decide, though, if I really need the letter...maybe that visual aid would suffice to get them to notice my anger. You think?
With the way things have been since GWB was elected to the White House, it feels like the GOP has been in the minority.
I also want to see Powell out ramming it down Biden's throat
I certainly agree with everyone this was awful, but I don't think it's over yet and there's still hope.
You're right .. there is still hope for Bolton
Can't say the same for the Republicans in the Senate
As the moment they can kiss my .....
We will have their votes. Do you know what type of pressure Voinovich, and Hagel are getting tonight from the White House, the Republican leadership, and the Republican base? A lot of immense pressure. They will go back in line and vote for Bolton. Be optimistic.
LOL!
I've been chucking my envelopes in the trash since January.
watch out ,... I'm sure they know how to "wash" checks [LOL!!]
Thanks for the analysis...
My remedy?
Withdraw Bolton and put in Ashcroft...he gets shot down? withdraw him and put in Bork....
or find someone they hate worse
We have been only four months since the new Congress and President Bush sworn in, we will get the vast majority in our agenda to pass.
Excellent idea!! We all should do that. They ignore the people who put them in office but money (or lack of) talks.
I know, Darkwolf. But this institution is so corrupt, I don't know of anyone who would take this job except a person with a strong sense of duty and love of his country. Bolton is such a man, I believe.
I can see Bolton taking the UN on, but as CitizenM said, trying to reform the UN would be like treating cancer with an aspirin.
My brain is so tired now, I can hardly think (or type) straight anymore. I have spent the afternoon and evening reacting to this disgusting state of events, reading as many posts as I could.
How about that grand old phrase, US out of the UN, and the UN OUT of the US!
Maybe to you, but I'm old enough to remember being in the minority, and it was a lot worse than this.
What you said!
(LOL)
