Posted on 04/19/2005 11:07:48 AM PDT by ken5050

OK..here's what we know..Senate is in recess for the weekly party caucus luncheons. Supposed to resume at 2:15. on C-span 2.. The Foreign Relations committee is supposed to meet at 2:45 to vote on the Bolton nomination. Lugar has refused requests for a delay. Just before the Senate recessed, Reid objected to Frist's UC request for the Froeign Relations committee to meet today. Frist withdrew his request..

let's see what happens.

but as Howlin and others have said - what we see here is "the formula" to smear a nominee and defeat him. Just throw everything out there, watch our political operation mount a feeble defense, and the "big tent" republicans will scatter. and these "allegations" against Bolton are nothing. Remember that the Dems were ready to show records that Robert Bork rented adult films. and we all saw what went on with Clarence Thomas. That's what's coming.

what should have been done here you ask? well, aside from the white house calling these senators once in a while (I am convinced that the white house never spoke to Voinovich on this matter), how many americans really know what the Dems true agenda is here? why they don't like Bolton, and why the UN is so important to them, why they want it to weaken US sovereignty and power in the world, and right to self defense in national security and military matters.

had the white house put that spin on this nomination - had they made it a national security issue, an issue that the Dems are sensitive on, we would have won it.

I am rooting for your synopsis. However, these RINOS don't seem at all intimidated at the prospect of a White House retribution. Something is really lacking either in the Senate leadership or they are not on the same page as Pres Bush and have gotten what they really wanted by an indirect method. I am to the point of wondering how many Republican tails are wagging the White House pooch.

yes, but only because Thomas mounted a vigorous defense of himself. He went right for the jugular - I can remember the look on the faces of the Dems at that hearing now, when the words "high tech lynching" were uttered. It put them on the defensive right away.

In a nutshell.

Honestly, I've been thinking that for awhile...that those 900= files weren't there for nothing. And that they're being used--slowly.

I'll see your tinfoil hat, and raise you a cone of silence and a weapon of transparency.

He deserves more than a limp. Guess we'll find out.

Oh, and to answer the question Howlin, I haven't calmed down. If anything a feeling of vengenace is settling down deep into my soul. I want him to pay. I want all the McCain-ites to pay for their blatant unethical political opportunism at expense of those they pledged to serve.

Peggy Noonan is the LAST person Bush needs to depend on. She's done enough damage to President Bush already.

I have had to go out several times today. I missed the announcement on the Pope (heard it on the car radio only), and this whole episode over the vote on Bolton.

Would you or anyone mind giving me a synopsis? I can't make heads or tails out of this thread! LOL. What happened, or is that still unclear? Just an outline would be helpful - if anyone can, please. Thanks so much.

The last time anyone thought she could distill the moment, she basically said his Inaugural speech was too preachy.

I agree 100 percent.

I just meant maybe we had stopped spitting and hissing. :-)
