OK..here's what we know..Senate is in recess for the weekly party caucus luncheons. Supposed to resume at 2:15. on C-span 2.. The Foreign Relations committee is supposed to meet at 2:45 to vote on the Bolton nomination. Lugar has refused requests for a delay. Just before the Senate recessed, Reid objected to Frist's UC request for the Froeign Relations committee to meet today. Frist withdrew his request..

MORE BOLTON [Rich Lowry ]
An e-mail from well-informed source:
A few tidbits...
1. The Senate went into a special recess so Bolton could be voted out. Voinovich knew this. He was on board. If he had a problem, he could have told Leadership before we went into a special recess.
2. Voinovich's reason for not voting for Bolton today? "I haven't been to the hearings and haven't heard all these allegations until now." Embarrassing.
3. Lugar could have solved this problem easily -- he could have asked Voinovich to abstain if he didn't feel prepared to vote. He could have told him that he was embarrasing him (Lugar) and all Republicans for blindsiding him. He could have recessed for 5 minutes so Republicans could have talked to him.
4. Lugar postponed for *three weeks.* He could have called another meeting tomorrow morning and given people time to get to Voinovich.
5. Chafee -- does anybody think he'll stick, now that Voinovich is giving him cover?

And to think I had such high hopes for the confirmation of judges! The pubbies would grow a spine and fight like dogs for Bushs' choices.
ROFL!!!
I'm so naive. );

I only see a pattern of your lame coverup of your negativity. He is tough and unless you think we should hire Richard Simmons to do the job stop being so obvious anti Bolton.

I don't think it's because we are dangerous, but HURT mostly! I felt stabbed in the heart after all the muscle and money we put in to win the majority, only to have them cave in to the rats! It's call extreme disappointment!

I left a pretty vulgar voicemail for Voin. Basically said if he was too busy to attend Foeign Relations Committee meetings when ONE OF HIS PRESIDENT'S NOMINEES WAS BEING CONSIDERED, then he should resign and let a more responsible Republican take his seat.

What a disaster. RNC, you better be on top of this cause until you stop supporting these spineless wimps youll get no more cash from me.
Mehlman, you need to dump the RINO's and find REAL CONSERVATIVES to run for office.
Sen. Frist, dont even try running for president, you cant even run the Senate.
Sen. Lugar, I just feel bad for you, you looked pathetic.
Pres. Bush, good luck getting any SCOTUS nominees through, this is a taste of things to come.
URGH!

Well stated.
Time for Voinivich to resign since he, by own admission, cannot do his job.
To: Graymatter
You all seem to be reactionary, and flailing. Calm down and regroup. George Bush is not facing re-election and he will rip the heart out of these scums so bad that Frist will have to do a 6 hour fix.

Excuse my ignorance but what does this mean? Voted out?

Voted out.
Means voted out of the committee to the full Senate for conformation!

Bump for the Move America Forward campaign to put pressure on Voinovich. However, for a Senator one year into a six year term and probably his last term, will this have any effect on him? I would rather see more direct action by the WH and the party leadership to enforce discipline - committee assignments, loss of the Ethics Committee Chairmanship, and/or loss of funding for projects near to his heart.

Lifelong conservative republicans do not come out for John Kerry and donate to liberal dems. Tell us now how conservative you are. RIGHT!

LOL!!
You have a point! Those mean Reps should have engraved an invite and personally had Frist deliver it on bended knees to Voinivich. He cannot be blamed that Reps didn't sufficiently kiss up to him before the vote.
