I understand your point; but it's kind of like the old saying when the military was desegregated; black men had to be twice as good to be considered just as good.

It is. Blacks had to prove the racists wrong. Jews have to prove the Nazis wrong. Americans have to prove France is wrong. And on and on.
It isn't fair, but we all know it's true. It's that dark aspect of human nature that is yet to be conquered.
