Waco: The Inside Story
Acquitted in court of that charge.
and fired on federal agents
They fired second, in response.
serving a warrant (issued by a judge).
Which they didn't have in their possession at the time of the raid, and which was based on false information. (AK47s don't have "upper receivers," which a BATF agent claimed to have seen at Mt. Carmel, they just have "receivers.")
Were they restricted from leaving the compound?
Nope. In fact, Koresh went jogging often in the morning. If they wanted to arrest him, they could have picked him up on one of their jogs. But, instead they wanted a big media splash (which is why they invited the press, and why they raided during daylight ... and why they raided at all). Don't forget, it was operation "SHOWTIME." Does this sound like a valid law-enforcement activity to you?
I'm not quite sure where all the vitriol comes from.
Yeah, you're right. Here's just how right you really are:
I really don't mean or want to start a flame war, but I don't 100% understand this stuff.
You're damn right you don't understand it. You don't understand the first thing about it. When federal agents murder 82 people and then cover it up and blame it on the victims, it's going to upset some people.
I think that it would have been a lot easier to either sidle up to Koresh as he approached his car in the parking lot of a grocery store... "Excuse me, Mr. Koresh?" and slap the cuffs on him....
or...
Walk up to the door in uniform with gun in holster and roll your knuckles into a light fist and apply them to the door. When someone answers, you politely state "Excuse me, Is Mr. Koresh here? We have a warrant".
Crawling up a ladder in the early morning (while wearing black) and attempting to break into the second story window does not constitute a reasonable effort to search someone's home when they have not already demonstrated a threat.

But lets put the blame where it realy belongs, we all know that Hitlery gave the order to torch the place.
I've been a visitor to Freepublic since 1998. April 19th is one of those days that offends my American sensibilities.
just courious but why did you wait untill today to register?
?....maybe David 'Koresh'....was really a secret Muslim sex slave trader and his church really a secret Temple or Mosque for al-Qaeda and 'OBL'......armed terrorists?
'll NEVER forget it.
To this day, I can not see Bill Clinton without feeling utter revulsion,
and THIS, not Monica, is why.
Amen!
But lets put the blame where it realy belongs, we all know that Hitlery gave the order to torch the place.
Reno, Clinton, Hitler
all birds of a feather.
ASTM: A set This Magnificent? probably D's
Where's your proof it ever happened?
Welcmoe Abroad!
Hey, that's what they did to the cult leader in our parts. Good thing the sheriff read the riot act to the feebs, so they would do it right that time. Amazingly, not a single man woman or child got hurt in the process.
United Nuwaubian Nation of Moors
The fbi sure was scared to act though. After Waco, Reno wouldn't do anything, even though children down to toddler age were being sexually abused, because they were scred something would go wrong, or that the white sheriff was picking on a black religious group. Grrrrrrrrrr. But after Ashcroft took over, the ball got rolling, and a child molesting cult leader was off the streets.
The BATF went over to the church and shot it up. ABC World News Tonite showed the BATF video in it's entirety while Aaron Brown and Thalia Assuras were off somewhere, at about 5:30 in the morning after the raid.
The Feds just walked up to the house, all in black, no badges, no logos(on the front, ATF on the back).
The door opens, two guys look out. One says, "Hey, what are you doing, we have women and children in here!"
WITHOUT A WORD, NOT A MENTION OF WARRANTS, the BATFags open fire on the place, swinging their weapons back and forth like on an old tv war movie, just raking the house indiscriminately with fire.
After a few long moments, a few sporadic shots come from inside the house toward the Feds.
A lot happens, the camera pans to a roof where a couple guys enter through a window, then the third guy stands up and fires through the window into the house. The first two guys tumble back out the window and down the ladder as a few shots come through the roof and siding after them.
The camera swings around wildly for a bit, but then the idiot murdering BATFags run out of ammo.
They hold their weapons in the air and back off, dragging a few wounded with them.
A couple guys(maybe three) come cautiously out of the bullet riddled doorway.
They have utterly shocked looks on their faces, they point their rifles at the retreating murderers, but even though many inside have been killed (women men children) by the unprovoked attack the men do nothing but gape in astonishment.
The next hour the tape was cut into the one many have seen since, that played on all the news all day long, but the original is probably somewhere in ABC's archives unless the Feds siezed it.
After the BATFags withdrew to a perimeter and sealed off the place, keeping the news under control and keeping the witnesses from coming out. It was obvious to anyone they were not planning on survivors.
The only charge that held up against them was a two hundred dollar tax dispute involving firearms licensing, as one of the guys was a gun dealer.
If they were half the bad guys they were supposed to be they would have chased down and shot each and every one of of those bastards, taken their trucks and fled to Mexico.
Instead they called the police for help and waited patiently to be massacred.
Patriot Day bump
The gub'mint watched Koresh go into town and other places many times and could have easily nabbed him alone. But they chose to destroy the place. That's where the vitriol comes from.
No worries, I gotcha....
Ping for some Waco information.
